A smoking article (10) incorporates a tobacco rob (12) and a filter attached to the tobacco rod. The filter includes a concentric filter segment (20) having a central core portion (23) with sorbent material and an outer periphery layer (24) circumscribed about the central core portion. At least about 80 weight % of the sorbent in the smoking article is disposed in the central core portion. The central core portion has a lower RTD than the periphery layer. A ventilation zone (30) is disposed adjacent an upstream end of the concentric sorbent segment.

A component for an article for use in an aerosol delivery system includes a body of fibrous material comprising first and second additive release components embedded within the body of fibrous material. The first and second additive release components each have a maximum diameter between about 1.5 mm and about 2.5 mm and the first and second additive release components are separated by a distance of less than about 2.5 mm. There is also provided an article including the component and a system including the article and a non-combustible aerosol provision device for heating the aerosol generating material of the article. A manufacturing method is also provided.

At least one ventilation area is arranged to provide external air into the hollow tubular body. A multi-purpose internal component for an aerosol-generating product includes a hollow cylinder and air-permeable sealing members located at two ends of the hollow cylinder, where the hollow cylinder is filled with a functional material. The hollow cylinder can be filled with a smoke-generating material, a material with cooling, fragrance-enhancing, and harm-reducing functions, a filter material, and the like, such that multiple functions can be achieved; and the air-permeable sealing members at the two ends enable an air-flow channel. The internal component for an aerosol-generating product is simple and widely used in aerosol-generating products. An aerosol-generating product using the multi-purpose internal component for an aerosol-generating product is provided, where the multi-purpose internal component for an aerosol-generating product can be used as an aerosol-generating component, a multi-functional component, or a filter component.

An aerosol-generating article for producing an inhalable aerosol upon heating is provided, the aerosol-generating article including: a rod of aerosol-generating substrate; and a downstream section arranged downstream of the rod of aerosol-generating substrate and in axial alignment with the rod of aerosol-generating substrate, the downstream section including one or more downstream elements, the aerosol-generating article being arranged such that a center of mass of the aerosol-generating article is at least 60 percent of the way along a length of the aerosol-generating article from a downstream end.

An aerosol-generating article for producing an aerosol upon heating is provided, the article including: a rod of aerosol-forming substrate; and a filter positioned downstream of the rod, in which the rod and the filter are assembled within a wrapper, the article further including first and second air ingress zones located on the wrapper, the first and the second air ingress zones each being configured to allow an ingress of air into an interior of the article, the first air ingress zone including a substantially porous portion of the wrapper, the substantially porous portion having a porosity of at least 3000 Coresta Units, and a level of air ingress into the interior of the article through the first zone is greater than a level of air ingress into the interior of article through the second zone. An aerosol-generating system including the aerosol-generating article and an aerosol-generating device is also provided.

AEROSOL-GENERATING SYSTEM HAVING AN AIR INGRESS ZONE

An aerosol-generating system is provided, including: an aerosol-generating article including a rod of aerosol-forming substrate, a filter downstream of the rod, the rod and the filter being assembled within a wrapper, and an air ingress zone located on the wrapper and being configured to allow ingress of air into an interior of the article; and an aerosol-generating device having distal and mouth ends and including a housing defining a device cavity to removably receive the article at the mouth end, a heater to heat the substrate when the article is received within the cavity, and an air-flow channel extending between a channel inlet and outlet and establishing fluid communication between an interior of the cavity and an exterior of the device, in which there is fluid communication between the interior of the aerosol-generating article and the exterior of the aerosol-generating device when the article is received within the cavity.

VENTILATED AEROSOL-GENERATING ARTICLE WITH INDUCTION HEATING

An aerosol-generating article is provided for producing an inhalable aerosol upon heating, the article including: a rod of aerosol-generating substrate; a downstream section at a location downstream of the rod and including an aerosol-cooling element in longitudinal alignment with the rod, in which the aerosol-cooling element includes a hollow tubular segment that defines a cavity extending all the way from an upstream end to a downstream end of the hollow tubular segment; and a ventilation zone at a location along the hollow tubular segment, the hollow tubular segment having a length of less than about 10 millimetres, in which a volume ratio between a ventilation airflow admitted into the article via the ventilation zone at the location along the hollow tubular segment and a sum of an airflow from the rod and the ventilation airflow is of from about 25 percent to about 45 percent.

A smoking article includes a filter arrangement comprising a first filter section and a second filter section, the second filter section being located downstream of the first filter section, and a ventilation arrangement configured to provide a user controllable level of ventilation into the first filter section. A resistance to gaseous flow through the length of the second filter section is lower than a resistance to gaseous flow through the length of the first filter section, and the resistance to gaseous flow through the length of the filter arrangement remains substantially constant as the level of ventilation is varied.
