COMBUSTIBLE TOBACCO PRODUCT DESIGN SYSTEM AND METHOD
A method of designing a target combustible tobacco product, the method comprising receiving respective values for a plurality of input parameters (101); calculating respective values for a plurality of design parameters (130) for the combustible tobacco product based on the received values for the plurality of input parameters, and providing the calculated values as an output. The plurality of design parameters comprise at least two parameters selected from: a tobacco blend composition; tar, nicotine and carbon monoxide deliveries; a smoke sensory attribute; a number of puffs associated with the combustible tobacco product; combustible tobacco product dimensions; tobacco weight; tobacco rod and/or filter density; tobacco rod and/or filter firmness; open and/or closed combustible tobacco product pressure drop; filter pressure drop; cigarette paper porosity; and ventilation level.
Smoking article with reduced sidestream smoke
A smoking article (10) comprises a tobacco rod (12) and a filter (14) connected to the tobacco rod. The filter (14) comprises a flow restrictor (24). The smoking article further comprises a ventilation zone (18) at a location along the filter downstream of the flow restrictor. The diameter of the tobacco rod (12) is from about 5 mm to about 8.5 mm, the tobacco packing density within the tobacco rod is from about 180 mg/cubic centimetre to about 280 mg/cubic centimetre, and the length of the tobacco rod is from about 15 mm to about 45 mm. Further, the tobacco rod (12) is circumscribed by a wrapper (13) having an air permeability of less than about 20 Coresta units, the wrapper being made of a transparent regenerated cellulose film, or cellophane.
Smoking article with liquid-filled directional capsule
A smoking article includes a rod element of smokeable material connected to a filter element by a tipping wrapper. The filter element includes a liquid-filled directional capsule having a predefined rupture region at which the directional capsule is designed to break upon application of external force to release liquid contained therein. An indicator is provided at the tipping wrapper, or else is identifiable through the tipping wrapper, for encouraging a consumer to apply a crushing force in a particular location that can improve the user experience.
COOLING STRUCTURE AND A SMOKING ARTICLE INCLUDING THE SAME
A cooling structure, which is located downstream of a smoking material portion provided in a smoking article and located upstream of a mouthpiece portion, includes: a body portion that has a tube shape having a hollow therein and is made of a paper material; and a plurality of perforations that are arranged in a circumferential direction of the body portion such that the inside and outside of the body portion are in fluid communication with each other.
Tobacco Having Altered Leaf Properties and Methods of Making and Using
This disclosure provides tobacco plants containing a PMT RNAi and tobacco plants having a mutation in PMT, and methods of making and using such plants.
Smoking article comprising a filter with enhanced flavourant release
There is provided a smoking article (10) comprising a tobacco rod (12) and a filter (14) axially aligned in an abutting end-to-end relationship. The filter (14) consists of a single segment of filtration material having an overall length (L) and extending from a mouth end (16) to a tobacco rod end (18). The smoking article (10) comprises a ventilation zone (20) at a location at a first distance (V) from the mouth end (16) of the filter; and an additive delivery element (22) upstream of the ventilation zone (20) and at a second distance (C) from the mouth end (16) of the filter (14). The ventilation zone (20) is at least 5 mm apart from the additive delivery element (22). The overall length (L) of the filter is from 20 mm to 30 mm; the first distance (V) is from 11 mm to 22 mm; and the second distance (C) is from 16 mm to 27 mm.
Embossed Tipping Paper and Method of Manufacturing Smoking Article with Embossed Tipping Paper
An embossed tipping paper includes a relief pattern region having a patterned embossing structure formed in the depth of the material of the tipping paper. The embossed tipping paper further includes at least one plain region adjacent to the relief pattern region, the at least one plain region not having an embossing structure formed in the depth of the material of the tipping paper. A sequence of ventilation holes is formed in the at least one plain region. The embossed tipping paper has a substantially rectangular shape and the at least one plain region forms a band of fixed width running between two parallel edges of the substantially rectangular shape.
Natural wax cigarette filter
A filter (10) for cigarettes having a wax tubular member (20) with at least one through opening (30) to allow the smoke to pass through. A second detachable tubular member (125) can be optionally added. Through opening (30) may have different shapes that determine how much the smoke temperature is reduced. Member (20) can be selectively depressed to further constrain the passage of smoke to reduce the smoke temperature and trap more gunk. The present was filter is biodegradable and may be used as a carrier for seeds that may bloom when the filter is discarded.
SMOKING ARTICLE FILTER FOR EASY EXTINGUISHING
There is provided a smoking article comprising a tobacco rod, a filter and tipping material attaching the tobacco rod and the filter. The filter comprises a plug of filtration material that defines a furthest downstream end of the smoking article, the plug being surrounded by one or more filter wrappers. The tipping material includes a ventilation zone. The tipping material and the filter wrapper or wrappers have a combined thickness (t) perpendicular to the longitudinal direction of the smoking article, and the smoking article, at a location about the plug of filtration material, has a diameter (D.sub.SA) perpendicular to the longitudinal direction of the smoking article. The diameter (D.sub.SA) to thickness (t) ratio is less than about 80 and the filtration material extends to the furthest downstream end of the smoking article.
