An insertable filter unit for insertion into a smoking article filter having a recess, wherein the insertable filter unit includes an outer casing defining a cavity for storing a smoke modifying agent, and wherein the insertable filter unit is arranged to be inserted into the recess of the smoking article filter by a user.

The present disclosure relates to compositions that are useful in the delivery of various materials. In particular, the compositions comprise a suspension wherein an internal phase material is surrounded by an external phase material. The internal phase specifically can be a hydrophilic material, and the external phase specifically can be a hydrophobic material. The materials are combined so that the internal phase is substantially encapsulated by the external phase such that release can be controlled in relation to osmotic pressure differentials. The suspension can be combined with a carrier, and various systems and products can be formed with the suspension and optional carrier, such as oral strips, spray delivery systems, smokeless tobacco products, aerosol delivery devices, cigarettes, and packaging.

A smoking article includes a rod element of smokeable material connected to a filter element by a tipping wrapper. The filter element includes a liquid-filled directional capsule having a predefined rupture region at which the directional capsule is designed to break upon application of external force to release liquid contained therein. An indicator is provided at the tipping wrapper, or else is identifiable through the tipping wrapper, for encouraging a consumer to apply a crushing force in a particular location that can improve the user experience.

A device for burning smoking material and inhaling the resulting smoke is disclosed. The device can include a tubular member formed from a dried leaf having an internal elongated cavity extending from an open end to a closed end. The elongated cavity can be configured to receive a smoking material. The smoking accessory can include a filter disposed within dried leaf and defining the closed end. The filter can have a recess formed in a surface of the cylindrical body along a curved face extending from the first end to the second end, the recess extending radially into the cylindrical body. The smoking accessory can include a capsule containing a flavoring agent disposed within the recess.

A cooling structure, which is located downstream of a smoking material portion provided in a smoking article and located upstream of a mouthpiece portion, includes: a body portion that has a tube shape having a hollow therein and is made of a paper material; and a plurality of perforations that are arranged in a circumferential direction of the body portion such that the inside and outside of the body portion are in fluid communication with each other.

An insert system including a flavor releasing mechanism held within a compressible polymer holder disposed between two filter elements is provided. The insert system may be used as a mouthpiece with any type of suitable smokable, including, but not limited to, a blunt, a cigar, a cigarette, a cone, a pre-roll, an empty cone, any other type of smokable, and any combinations thereof. The insert system may be squeezed to activate the flavor releasing mechanism to release flavor into the smoke passing through the insert system to enhance the smoking experience. In one example, the insert system is coupled with one or more Cordia leaves to form a blunt smokable.

A device for use while burning smoking material and inhaling the resulting smoke is disclosed. The device can include a filter having a recess formed in a surface of a body along a curved face extending from the first end to the second end, the recess extending radially into the body. The smoking accessory can include a capsule containing a flavoring agent disposed within the recess. The device may be received by a first end a tubular member formed to receive a smoking material, that when burned passes smoke into the device.

Provided herein are a smoking article filter and a smoking article including the same. The filter according to some embodiments of the present disclosure includes a filter plug including a filter material and a liquid material added to the filter plug. Here, a molecular weight of a hydrophilic group of the filter material may be larger than or equal to a molecular weight of a hydrophobic group thereof, and in this case, changes in physical properties of the filter due to adding the liquid material may be minimized.

Improved delivery of additive materials to cigarettes is provided through the use of one or more capsules containing additive materials, such as flavor components, in the filter section of a cigarette. The capsule or capsules are between first and second absorbent members and the capsules are subjected to an external force, such as squeezing, by a smoker prior to or during smoking of the cigarette in order to release at least a portion of the additive material and expose the additive material to mainstream smoke passing through the filter. The capsules provide a barrier between the additive materials and other cigarettes components, such as sorbents or filter materials, in order to reduce additive material migration into the other cigarette components prior to desired use. An outer cover which is impermeable to the fluid within the capsules is provided about the capsule or capsules and the first and second absorbent members.
