A smoking article or an aerosol generating product comprising a filter arrangement comprising a first filter section and a second filter section, the second filter section being located downstream of the first filter section; and a ventilation arrangement configured to provide a user controllable level of ventilation into the first filter section; wherein a resistance to gaseous flow through the length of the second filter section is lower than a resistance to gaseous flow through the length of the first filter section; and the first filter section comprising filter material and one or more capsules comprising an additive.

An aerosol generating article (10) comprises an aerosol generating substrate (12); a mouthpiece (14) comprising an element (20) defining a cavity having a longitudinal axis; and a particulate aerosol altering material (30) partially filling the cavity. The particulate aerosol altering material (30) is adhered to the cavity-defining segment (20) by means of a permanent adhesive provided over at least a portion of an inner surface of the cavity-defining segment (20) to define an aerosol passage (32) substantially concentric with the longitudinal axis of the cavity.

Provided is a smoking article that allows easy inhaling of a powder at a smoker's own timing, and can suppress powder spill at an unintentional timing such as during production or shipment. The smoking article includes: a tobacco rod containing tobacco; and a filter connected to an end part of the tobacco rod through a tipping paper. The filter includes a powder-containing substance that is a lump of a crude powder containing at least one of a gustatory component and a flavor component, and turns into powder when external force is applied thereon, a cavity in which the powder-containing substance is placed, and a flow path that connects the cavity and a mouthpiece end, allows passage of the powder, and has a smaller inner diameter than an outer diameter of the powder-containing substance.

A smoking article filter (20) comprises a recess (25) to receive a filter insert unit (30). The filter insert unit (30) is secured to the filter (20) once inserted. The filter (20) and the filter insert unit (30) may comprise additives such as flavourants, colourants or sorbents.

The present disclosure relates to compositions that are useful in the delivery of various materials. In particular, the compositions comprise a suspension wherein an internal phase material is surrounded by an external phase material. The internal phase specifically can be a hydrophilic material, and the external phase specifically can be a hydrophobic material. The materials are combined so that the internal phase is substantially encapsulated by the external phase such that release can be controlled in relation to osmotic pressure differentials. The suspension can be combined with a carrier, and various systems and products can be formed with the suspension and optional carrier, such as oral strips, spray delivery systems, smokeless tobacco products, aerosol delivery devices, cigarettes, and packaging.

A smoking article has an outer surface and a plurality of frangible microcapsules provided on the outer surface, wherein the microcapsules are capable of being manually ruptured by a consumer to release an odorant encapsulated therein. The smoking article preferably comprises a wrapped tobacco rod; and a filter attached to the wrapped tobacco rod by tipping paper, a mouth end portion of which is over tipped with a band or strip of Peel and Sniff microcapsules and/or a band or strip of Scratch and Sniff microcapsules.

A filtered smoking article includes a smoking body, a filter including a filter member and an air-permeable paper, and having a flavor capsule arranged therein, and a tipping paper. The flavor capsule includes a capsule body, and a colored content liquid containing a flavor component. The air-permeable paper is arranged to be opposed to a region in which the colored content liquid is released when the flavor capsule is crushed, and has an air permeability of 1,000 C.U. to 30,000 C.U. The tipping paper is impermeable to the colored content liquid, and includes at least three transparent parts. Each of the transparent parts is arranged to be opposed to the region in which the colored content liquid is released.

A smoking article (10) comprising: an aerosol-generating substrate (12) and a mouthpiece (14) secured to a downstream end of the aerosol-generating substrate, the mouthpiece comprising: a first hollow tubular segment (24) of elastically deformable material; and a second hollow tubular segment (30) adjacent to and upstream of the first hollow tubular segment, the second hollow tubular segment (30) defining a chamber (32) for receiving an insert unit (50). The first hollow tubular segment defines an opening through which an insert unit can pass from the exterior of the mouthpiece into the chamber (32) of the second hollow tubular segment. At least a portion of the first hollow tubular segment inwardly projects into the opening to define at least one elastically deformable projection (26).

A method for manufacturing a flavor capsule of tobacco according to an embodiment of the present disclosure may comprise: a membrane manufacturing step for manufacturing a membrane of a flavor capsule by a membrane manufacturing part that manufactures a membrane; a capsule manufacturing step for manufacturing the flavor capsule using an apparatus for manufacturing a capsule with the membrane manufactured during the membrane manufacturing step and a flavored liquid to be held in the membrane; and a hardening step for hardening the flavor capsule.

The unit (1) is characterised in that the transferring unit (13) has at least one cleaning element (25) adapted to clean the holding pockets (14).
