Aerosol delivery device with downstream flavor cartridge
The present disclosure relates to a flavor delivery device and a cartridge that includes such flavor delivery device. The flavor delivery device includes a flavor substrate that can be formed of a porous material, and further including flavor material included within the flavor substrate. The flavor substrate is surrounded by an outer sleeve which is impermeable to the flavor material. The flavor delivery device may be positioned within a cartridge of an aerosol delivery device where the flavor delivery device is located downstream from a reservoir containing an aerosol precursor composition relative to the mouthend of the cartridge.
Smoke filters for reducing components in a smoke stream
Smoke filters that reduce the concentration of carbon monoxide and phenols in a smoke stream may include a porous mass section comprising a plurality of active particles, a plurality of binder particles, and an active coating disposed on at least a portion of the active particles and the binder particles, wherein the active particles and the binder particles are bound together at a plurality of contact points; and a filter section. In some instances, a filter may include a porous mass section comprising a plurality of active particles and a plurality of binder particles, wherein the active particles and the binder particles are bound together at a plurality of contact points without an adhesive; and a filter section comprising an active dopant.

Degradable filter element
A filter material adapted for use as a filter element of a smoking article is provided, the filter material including at least one segment of fibrous tow having a plurality of degradable particles dispersed therein, the degradable particles comprising a starch material. Exemplary starch materials include naturally-occurring starch, hydroxyalkylated starch, starch esters, ionically modified starch, oxidized starch, hydrolyzed starch, plasticized starch, gelatinized starch, grafted starch, crosslinked starch, transglycosylated starch, starch ethers, and mixtures thereof, as well as blends of starch with other polymers. Filter elements and smoking articles, such as cigarettes, that contain the filter material are also provided. A method of preparing polymer fibers for use in filter elements is also provided, the method including adding the starch material to a fiber precursor solution prior to fiber extrusion or dry-blending the starch material with the polymer material to be formed into fibers.
