METHOD OF FORMING FILTER WITH INTERSTICES FOR E-VAPING DEVICE
The method includes forming a filter material sheet, containing the filter material sheet to form a contained filter material, the containing including, folding the filter material sheet to create a plurality of folds along a width of the filter material sheet, gathering the filter material sheet to form the contained filter material, the plurality of folds in the filter material sheet forming interstices running through a longitudinal length of the contained filter material, the interstices being configured to allow an airflow to pass through the longitudinal length of the contained filter material, and infusing the filter material sheet with at least one first consumable substance, the at least one first consumable substance being one of nicotine, at least one first flavorant, a pre-vapor formulation, a combination thereof, or a sub-combination thereof.
SMOKING ARTICLE WITH FLOW RESTRICTOR ADAPTED TO PROMOTE FILTER DEGRADATION
A smoking article comprises a tobacco rod and a filter component. The filter component comprises a first filter segment of filtration material having a diameter measured perpendicular to a longitudinal direction of the filter, and a flow restrictor embedded in the filter segment. At least one cross sectional dimension of the flow restrictor, measured in a transverse direction of the filter segment, is at least about 50 percent of the diameter of the filter segment. The flow restrictor is made from an air-impermeable, non-compressible and water-soluble or water-dissolvable material. Further, the flow restrictor comprises a composition that promotes degradation of the filtration material.
AEROSOL GENERATING PRODUCT
An aerosol generating product includes an aerosol atomizing element and a smoke cooling element, and the smoke cooling element is located downstream of the flow direction of the smoke generated by the aerosol atomizing element. A filter element is located downstream of the flow direction of the smoke through which the smoke cooling element passes; or a hollow element located upstream of the flow direction of the smoke through which the smoke cooling element passes. The smoke cooling element is composed of particles, and the structure includes a gap for smoke of a cigarette to pass through. The gap through which cigarette smoke can pass is a three-dimensional and non-linear gap. The structure is in the form of rods. When the smoke aerosol passes through the cooling element, ensuring the smoke to pass through smoothly.
SMOKING ARTICLE COMPRISING AEROGEL
A smoking article is provided that includes an aerogel, which can be optionally impregnated with a catalytic metal compound or can optionally be coated with at least one aerosol-forming material and a flavoring agent. The smoking article comprises various segments such as a heat generation segment, an aerosol-generation segment, and a mouth end. The aerogel can be placed near or within any of these segments.
The presence of the aerogel can reduce the concentration of certain gaseous components of mainstream smoke generated during use of a smoking article incorporating a heat generation segment containing a fuel element.
Filter for a smoking article
A filter (11) for a smoking article (10) comprises a first flow path (13) through the filter, a second flow path (14) through the filter, the second flow path being disposed around the first flow path, and a selector (16) for allowing flow selectively through the first and second flow paths.

CATALYST INTRODUCTION METHODS FOR ACCELERATED DEACETYLATION OF CELLULOSE ESTERS
Disclosed herein is a degradable cigarette filter comprising a cellulose ester and including a catalyst comprising a basic material, an enzymatic material, or combinations thereof. The catalyst, when exposed to water, may deacetylate the bloomed cellulose acetate tow by at least 10% in 20 days or less. The filters described herein therefore degrade more rapidly than other known cellulose acetate tow filters.
