Cigarettes and Cigarette Filters Including Activated Carbon for Removing Nitric Oxide
Filters and cigarettes include an activated carbon sorbent capable of selectively removing nitric oxide from mainstream tobacco smoke. Methods for making cigarette filters and cigarettes using the activated carbon sorbent and methods for treating mainstream tobacco smoke produced by smoking a cigarette comprising the sorbent are also provided.
Smoking article
A smoking article, such as a cigarette, includes a carbonaceous heat source. A mouth end piece segment is located at the mouth end of the smoking article, and the mouth end piece segment allows the smoking article to be placed in the mouth of the smoker to be drawn upon. The smoking article further incorporates an aerosol-generating segment located between the heat generation segment and the mouth end piece segment. The aerosol-generating segment incorporates an aerosol-forming material (e.g., glycerin and flavors). The heat generation segment is in a heat exchange relationship with the aerosol-generating region such that heat generated by the burning fuel element acts to volatilize aerosol-forming material for aerosol formation. The carbonaceous heat source is in intimate contact with coarse, fine or ultrafine particles of materials such as cerium oxide, or mixtures of cerium oxide and palladium chloride.

AEROSOL-GENERATING DEVICE HAVING A POROUS MASS
An aerosol-generating device including an aerosol-generating article comprising an aerosol-forming substrate, a support element, an aerosol-cooling element, and a mouthpiece. At least one of the aerosol-cooling element and the filter comprise a porous mass comprising from 20 to 100 wt. % binder and from 0 to 80 wt. % active or inactive particles.

FILTER FOR CIGARETTES AND CIGARETTE INCLUDING THE SAME
Embodiments of the present disclosure relate to a filter for cigarettes and a method of preparing the filter, and include a paper filter for cigarettes using paper and a cigarette including the paper filter. The filter for cigarettes provides a high level of satisfaction in smoking through high granular seating stability and eliminates a burnt taste.
AEROSOL-GENERATING DEVICE AND MEDIUM RECEIVING ROD
The aerosol-generating device includes a receiver for receiving a medium receiving rod in a replaceable manner, an atomizer that generates aerosol, and a power supply for transmitting power required to heat the atomizer, wherein the aerosol generated in the atomizer passes through the medium receiving rod received in the receiver such that a medium is transferred from medium pulp included in a filter segment of the medium receiving rod by heat of the aerosol.
Smoking article
An aerosol-generation system for a smoking article comprises an aerosol-generating segment and a heat generation segment. The heat generation segment has a length and includes a heat source. The aerosol-generation system for a smoking article also comprises an insulator having at least a portion extending beyond the second end of the heat source, such that the portion is axially arranged in a lengthwise direction proximate to the aerosol-generating segment. Each segment is physically separate and in a heat exchange relationship. The heat source comprises a carbonaceous material.

Filter rod including electrostatically charged fibers
A filter rod comprises a core of cellulose acetate fibers surrounded by a lofty porous network of charge retaining polymer fibers. The charge retaining fibers can be charged to attract and hold particles from such sources as particulate matter from sorbents (preventing break-through), and smoke constituents while having a suitable pressure drop.
