Cold lamination with radiation
A process for laminating a material layer to a support including: providing the support, applying the material layer to the support, a heat-activatable adhesive being applied to s side of the material layer facing the dimensionally stable support and/or to the side of the dimensionally stable support facing the material layer, pressing the flexible material layer and the dimensionally stable support together by means of a lower dimensionally stable mold half and an upper dimensionally stable mold half, irradiating the mold halves, the support and the material layer with electromagnetic radiation, in particular with microwave radiation, high-frequency radiation or induction radiation, whereby the adhesive is activated directly or indirectly.
Method and device for joining components
A method for joining a first and a second component, at least one of which comprises a fiber-reinforced plastics material. The components are arranged in relation to one another in such a way that a gap region remains between the first and the second component. The gap region is filled, at least in portions, with an uncured plastics material filler in which nanoparticles are dispersed. Energy is introduced locally into the nanoparticles in order to cure the plastics material filler. In another aspect, the invention provides a device for joining two components.
Portable system for bonding pipes
A kit for fusing piping includes a plurality of couplings, each coupling having a susceptor layer concentric with a weld zone. A control unit provides a current to a wand with a handle for gripping by a user. The handle has opposing jaws mounted on the distal end, each jaw including an arcuate conductor such that the arcuate conductors form a circular inner diameter when the jaws make contact. A lever system couples to the distal end for opening and closing the jaws. The lever system includes a spring for selectively biasing the lever system in a latched position with jaws closed and an open position with the jaws open. Each coupling is sized such that the jaws will only close about the weld zone. The arcuate conductors create a fuse zone about the susceptor layer and the spring is outside the fuse zone.
Method for the manufacture of reinforced materials and material that can be obtained from this method
A method for the manufacture of reinforced core composites, comprises: inserting of a pin into a foamed core material or a filled honeycomb-shaped core material, wherein the pin and the core material contain a thermoplastic polymer, or a mixture of thermoplastic polymers; the pin is heated such that as the pin is inserted the core material softens or melts at the point of insertion; and/or the core material is heated at the point of insertion such that the core material softens or melts.
ADHESIVE AND STRUCTURE, AND ADHESION METHOD
Provided is an adhesive that can provide quick bonding between thermoplastic resins and excellent bond strength, a structure having adhesion provided by the adhesive, and an adhesion method using the adhesive. The adhesive bonds a first member (11) containing a thermoplastic resin or a carbon fiber reinforced thermoplastic resin and a second member (12) containing the thermoplastic resin or the carbon fiber reinforced thermoplastic resin. The adhesive includes a thermoplastic resin as a main component containing a metal nano material that absorbs electromagnetic waves and generates heat.
Apparatus of controlling electric power for electric fusion pipe fitting using conductive polymer composite and method thereof
Provided is an electric power control apparatus of an electrofusion coupling pipe using a conductive polymer composite as a heating element and a method of controlling electric power using the same. The electric power control apparatus supplies electric power to the electrofusion coupling pipe using a conductive polymer composite as a heating element to detect resistance variation of the conductive polymer composite and then controls electric power supplied to the synthetic resin pipe electrofusion coupling pipe on the basis of the detected resistance variation.
FLEXIBLE PIPE AND COUPLING THEREFOR
Construction of a sealed connection between an elastomeric or synthetic polymer flexible pipe or hose and a metallic coupling member. The coupling member surrounds an armor layer at a free end of the flexible pipe or hose. A sealing area is defined by a recessed portion of the pipe coupling into which a sealing material is introduced. An inner liner layer of the flexible pipe or hose may extend into the sealing area where it is bonded to the sealing material. The sealing material and the inner liner layer may each be comprised of a semi-crystalline thermoplastic material. Furthermore, a reinforcement material may be provided in the inner liner layer.
THERMOPLASTIC WELDING APPARATUS AND RELATED METHODS
Thermoplastic welding apparatus and related methods are disclosed. An example method includes providing a smart susceptor between composite parts that are to be joined via thermoplastic welding. The example method includes positioning the composite parts and the smart susceptor on a tooling surface within a cavity of a tooling apparatus and applying a seal to the composite parts and the tooling surface to form a vacuum chamber between the composite parts and the tooling surface at a welding joint of the composite parts; producing a magnetic field at the welding joint. The example method includes providing a vacuum in the vacuum chamber during a welding operation.
Thermoplastic welding apparatus and method
A thermoplastic welding apparatus includes a thermoplastic welding tool, at least one tooling surface in the thermoplastic welding tool, a magnetic induction coil in the thermoplastic welding tool and generally encircling the at least one tooling surface and at least one smart susceptor in the thermoplastic welding tool at the at least one tooling surface. The magnetic induction coil is adapted to generate a magnetic flux field oriented generally parallel to a plane of the at least one smart susceptor.
Flexible pipe and coupling therefor
Sealed connection between an elastomeric or synthetic polymer flexible pipe or hose and a metallic coupling member. The coupling member surrounds an armor layer at a free end of the flexible pipe or hose. A sealing area is defined by a recessed portion of the pipe coupling into which a sealing material is introduced. An inner liner layer thereof may extend into the sealing area where it is bonded to the sealing material. The sealing material and the inner liner layer may each include a semi-crystalline thermoplastic material. A reinforcement material may be provided in the inner liner layer. In one embodiment the sealing material is injected into the sealing area. In another embodiment the sealing material is provided in the form of meltable ring which fits into the sealing area before fitting of the coupling member, and is activated by an induction heater to effect the sealed connection.
