Electrofusion fitting methods
The invention provides improvements to electrofusion fitting methods that allow for continuity and repeatability of welds between an electrofusion fitting and a pipe lining (or stand-alone pipe). An electrofusion fitting for joining sections of lined pipe has heating elements configured to create at least one weld between the electrofusion fitting and a pipe lining, however prior to the weld step taking place the electrofusion fitting is heated and expands accordingly to ensure contact with the pipe lining. Preheating the electrofusion fitting also provides a predetermined starting temperature for the fitting and the lining which results in improved fusion cycle reliability. Furthermore, the need for clamps or support frames to support the electrofusion fitting in situ is removed, with corresponding reductions in cycle times, complexity, and hence cost.
Opening device for a container and a method for producing such opening device
An opening device for a container includes a pouring spout defining a pouring opening to pour in use the content of the container, a closing element closing the pouring opening and connected to the pouring spout by breakable connector, and a closure fitted to the pouring spout in a removable manner to close the pouring opening at a region thereof different from that closed by the closing element; the closing element is formed in one piece with a protruding portion extending through the pouring opening and welded to the closure far away from the closing element.
Pipe Coupler and Coupling Methods
A pipe coupler (30) comprises: an axis (500); a body portion (70) surrounding the axis; a circumferentially segmented collar (72) extending from a first axial end of the body portion and having an inner diameter surface (80) and an outer diameter surface (82); and a plurality of fingers (90) projecting from a second axial end of the body portion, axially opposite the first end and having inward radial projections (96).
HOUSING HAVING HOUSING PARTS BONDABLE TOGETHER AND METHOD OF MANUFACTURING THE SAME
A housing includes a first surrounding wall connected around a base wall. The first surrounding wall has a first joint portion opposite to the base wall, a first outer surface and a first inner surface. The first outer and inner surfaces extend from the first joint portion toward the base wall. The first joint portion is stepped and has a first projecting portion adjoining the first outer surface, and a first shoulder portion indented from the first projecting portion and proximal to the first inner surface. The first shoulder portion has a plurality of parallel spaced-apart ribs protruding therefrom in a same direction as the first projecting portion. Each of the ribs has a tip that does not extend beyond a top end of the first projecting portion.
Pipe processing apparatus, particularly for forming branches on pipes made of thermoplastic material
A pipe processing apparatus, for forming branches on pipes made of thermoplastic material, including a base adapted to be fastened to the outer wall of a pipe and a supporting structure which extends from the base; a support member is slidingly associated with the supporting structure and is adapted to receive an interchangeable processing/handling means configured to interact with the pipe; the apparatus also includes a movement means which engages the support member in order to move it on command along a processing axis. The supporting structure includes a single elongated structural element.
COMPRESSION COLLARS FOR COUPLING A TUBE TO A TUBE FITTING AND METHODS OF USE
A method for coupling a tube to a tube fitting includes radially outwardly expanding a tubular compression collar from a constricted state to an expanded state, the compression collar having a throughway extending there through and being made of a resiliently flexible material. An end of the tube is inserted within the throughway of the expanded compression collar, the tube bounding a passageway. A tube fitting is inserted within the passageway of the tube. The compression collar is allowed to resiliently rebound back towards the constricted state so that the compression collar pushes the tube against the tube fitting.
Portable system for bonding pipes
A kit for fusing piping includes a plurality of couplings, each coupling having a susceptor layer concentric with a weld zone. A control unit provides a current to a wand with a handle for gripping by a user. The handle has opposing jaws mounted on the distal end, each jaw including an arcuate conductor such that the arcuate conductors form a circular inner diameter when the jaws make contact. A lever system couples to the distal end for opening and closing the jaws. The lever system includes a spring for selectively biasing the lever system in a latched position with jaws closed and an open position with the jaws open. Each coupling is sized such that the jaws will only close about the weld zone. The arcuate conductors create a fuse zone about the susceptor layer and the spring is outside the fuse zone.
PLASTIC-WELDING DEVICE
The invention relates to a plastic-welding device for connecting a first, thin-walled plastic part to a second plastic part in a planar manner. The device includes a hand-held mounting aid and a welding head that can be held in a retainer of a hand soldering iron; wherein the welding head has a main body and at least one welding tip arranged on the main body. The mounting aid has at least one spacer, which can be placed onto the thin-walled plastic part by means of an underside of the at least one spacer and on the surface of which the main body of the welding head can be supported. The spacer is designed so that, when the main body is supported on the at least one spacer, a depth of penetration of the welding tip into the plastic parts to be connected is limited to a predetermined maximum value.
THERMOPLASTIC STRIKE LAYER FOR BONDING MATERIALS
Apparatuses and methods are disclosed that may be used to bond materials using thermoset and thermoplastic polymer materials arranged with a thermoplastic strike layer on a surface of the material. Apparatuses and methods are also disclosed for manufacturing and configuring catheters and other tubular devices with a bonding surface or layer. These apparatuses and devices may have a strike layer of thermoplastic polymer material that melts or softens upon application of heat and bonds to other polymer materials upon cooling, thus avoiding the use of externally-applied adhesives in the construction of a bond between two surfaces, such as between an inner surface of a tubular catheter and an outer surface of a tubular catheter tip.
Method for the fabrication of a preform, preform and container
A method for fabricating a preform (100) by providing a plurality of preform segments (101-103) which each define a portion of a preform (100), positioning said preform segments (101-103) in continuous contact with each other along at least one edge of said preform segments (101-103) such that said plurality of preform segments (101-103) define a cavity (107), and bonding each of said preform segments (101-103) to at least one other preform segment such that said plurality of preform segments (101-103) forms a continuous whole.
