An apparatus for joining, in particular laser welding, two components, in particular plastics components, comprisestwo workpiece receptacles (1, 3) for respectively holding the two components (2, 4) to be connected, in each case one bearing element, preferably a bearing plate (7), for each of the workpiece receptacles (1, 3), a clamping drive (SA) for at least one bearing element for feeding and bracing of the two components (2, 4) held in the workpiece receptacles (1, 3) during the joining process, a controller (9) for the clamping drive (SA) and in particular a laser welding device (LS), anda mechanically loose coupling between the clamping drive (SA) and bearing element (7) such that the two workpiece receptacles (1, 3) are tiltable towards one another during feeding and bracing. Also disclosed is a method for operating such a joining apparatus during a joining process of two components (2, 4) held in the workpiece receptacles (1, 3), in particular during a laser welding process.

Protective cap for a positive crankcase ventilation port and a method to manufacture

A positive crankcase ventilation system for an internal combustion engine routes blowby gases into the intake of the engine. Because the blowby gases have about 12% water vapor, during cold-weather operation, the water vapor may freeze in the PCV valve or in the port that couples the PCV duct with the intake manifold. In situations in which the PCV duct is pointing toward the direction of flow of the intake gases, a hood or cap is placed over the end of the tube according to the present disclosure. It can be as simple as a 90-degree elbow or multiple openings in the cap. A centerline of the openings is perpendicular or at an obtuse angle with respect to the direction of flow in the duct so that the intake gases do not directly access the openings and cause freezing in the openings (or ports).

A device for reinforcing, sealing or insulating a structural element in a motor vehicle includes a support having a clip for pre-fixing the device in the structural element. The clip includes a base and two flexible wings arranged on the base. The device furthermore includes an adhesive for adhesively bonding the support in the structural element. The device furthermore includes an insertion element, which can be inserted in such a way into an interspace between the base and the wings of the clip when the device is pre-fixed on the structural element by the clip that the flexible wings are restricted in their freedom of movement.

Device for attaching mouthpiece to innerliner of aircraft water tank

When a cylinder portion of an innerliner is positioned inside a mouthpiece and when an upper mold and a lower mold are brought together, a projection portion is provided on an outer circumferential member of the lower mold that closes a gap between a section of an upper mold side positioning outer circumferential surface following on from an inner circumferential end of an outer abutting surface and a portion of the innerliner where an inner circumferential surface abuts. As a result, the portion of the innerliner that is thermally deformed is prevented from being displaced radially inward of the mouthpiece along a first annular surface.

Preforms for flair applications

A preform can be made from two different materials that do not bond together by a bi-injection process, using the same mold. First an outer preform can be fashioned, then an inner preform molded through a center hole in the bottom of the outer preform, and the preforms connected. Inner/outer preform materials can be different, e.g., PET/polyolefin or polyamide, or same, e.g., PET/PET. To prevent mutual bonding during molding of the second, a non-stick coating can be sprayed on a surface portion of the first preform prior to molding the second. Manufacturing order can be either outer/inner, or inner/outer, and the non-stick coating sprayed on the inside/outside of the preform first molded.
