PRE-FORMED THERMOPLASTIC FILLER FOR THERMOSET STRUCTURE
An apparatus includes a first thermoset layer that includes a first fibrous material embedded in a first thermoset matrix. The apparatus also includes a second thermoset layer that includes a second fibrous material embedded in a second thermoset matrix. The second thermoset layer is coupled to the first thermoset layer to form a joint. Further, a gap is defined between the first thermoset layer and the second thermoset layer. The apparatus also includes a thermoplastic filler that is made from a thermoplastic material. The thermoplastic filler is positioned within the gap.
Method for manufacturing endless belt and endless belt
A method for manufacturing an endless belt includes: coating a depression that is formed between both belt longitudinal ends of surface rubber of a belt and to which an adhesion processing material is attached, with at least one layer of unvulcanized rubber sheet; and vulcanizing the unvulcanized rubber sheet to bond the unvulcanized rubber sheet to the surface rubber, in which A is less than B, where A is a belt longitudinal distance between a belt longitudinal edge of an interface of the unvulcanized rubber sheet and the adhesion processing material and a belt longitudinal edge of the depression, and B is a belt longitudinal distance between a belt longitudinal edge of an area to which the adhesion processing material is attached and the belt longitudinal edge of the depression.
Ultrasonically welded mat unit and system thereof
A mat unit is formed from at least two layers ultrasonically welded together. Each layer is individually formed from non-vinyl nontoxic thermoplastic elastomer (TPE) material. In ultrasonically joining the two layers together, there is no need to use additional materials, such as adhesive (i.e., chemical attachment) or stitched thread (i.e., mechanical attachment) to form the joint/weld point. Once formed from the two layers, the mat unit has four quadrants and a plurality of longitudinal ribs integrally formed in the first layer positioned in the first and third quadrants, and a plurality of transverse ribs integrally formed in the first layer positioned in the second and fourth quadrants. Additionally, there are a plurality of longitudinal ribs integrally formed in the second layer positioned in the second and fourth quadrants, and a plurality of transverse ribs integrally formed in the second layer positioned in the first and third quadrants.
METHODS AND APPARATUS FOR TOOLING IN LAYERED STRUCTURES FOR INCREASED JOINT PERFORMANCE
Methods and apparatus for tooling in layered structures for increased joint performance are disclosed. A disclosed example method includes placing a tool onto a first substrate to define an impression in the first substrate, curing the first substrate, removing the tool from the first substrate to define a joint interface corresponding to the impression, and coupling, at the joint interface, the first substrate to a second substrate.
OPEN-CHANNEL STIFFENER
An open-channel stiffener for stiffening a panel has a bonding flange for bonding the stiffener to the panel through a bondline formed between the bonding flange and the panel to form a stiffened panel. The open-channel stiffener has a cross-sectional shape that aligns, or substantially aligns, a shear center of the stiffener with a centroid of the stiffener and aligns the shear center proximate an edge of the bondline, and removes the need for a radius filler noodle. A plurality of perforations may be formed through the bonding flange to permit an adhesive to wick into the perforations and create a mechanical interlock between the bonding flange and the panel.
BONDED STRUCTURE
A bonded structure includes a first fiber part (12) and a second fiber part (14) arranged between a first member (10) and a second member (20). The first fiber part (12) and the second fiber part (14) are bonded so as to connect the first member (10) and the second member (20) to each other. The first fiber part (12) and the second fiber part (14) are arranged so that the fibers constituting the first fiber part (12) and the second fiber part (14) are oriented in a direction from the first member (10) toward the second member (20).
COMPONENT DEVICE AND METHOD FOR DETECTING A DAMAGE IN A BONDING OF A COMPONENT DEVICE
The disclosure relates to a component device, in particular for a primary supporting component of an aircraft, the component device having a first component element, a second component element, a bonding providing a connection between the first component element and the second component element, and a detector device having at least one interior space sensor device configured to measure a change in a pressure and/or a concentration of a gas surrounding the interior space sensor device. The first component element, the second component element, and the bonding confine an interior space. The interior space sensor device is arranged in the interior space.
COMPONENT DEVICE AND METHOD FOR DETECTING A DAMAGE IN A BONDING OF A COMPONENT DEVICE
The disclosure relates to a component device, in particular for a primary supporting component of an aircraft, which comprises a first component element, a second component element, a bonding providing a connection between the first component element and the second component element, a marker substance device configured to dispense a volatile marker gas to the environment when in contact with the surrounding air and being hermetically sealed from the surrounding air by the first component element, the second component element, and/or the bonding if the bonding is not damaged, and a detector device configured to detect the marker gas dispensed by the marker substance device.
