Method of producing composite material

A method of producing a composite material includes preparing at least one molded product raw material by primary curing; preparing an assembled body by assembling the primarily cured molded product raw material with another molded product raw material; and integrally forming the molded product raw materials by heating the assembled body to a temperature equivalent to or higher than a glass transition point of the primarily cured molded product raw material to cause a phase of the at least one molded product raw material to transition to a rubberized state, by allowing an adhesive adjacent to the molded product raw material or the other molded product raw material adjacent to the molded product raw material to coexist with the molded product raw material in the rubberized state, and by secondarily curing the primarily cured at least one molded product raw material.

CRIMPING METHODS FOR THIN-WALLED SCAFFOLDS

A medical device includes a balloon expanded scaffold crimped to a catheter having a balloon. The scaffold has a network of rings formed by struts connected at crowns and links connecting adjacent rings. The scaffold is crimped to the balloon by a process that includes using protective polymer sheaths or sheets during crimping, and adjusting the sheaths or sheets during the crimping to avoid or minimize interference between the polymer material and scaffold struts as the scaffold is reduced in size.

Method of proving the quality of a bond

A method of assessing bond quality of a bond between first and second composite parts may include bonding an indication film to the first composite part. The indication film may include NDI-detectable particles arranged in a pattern and bound to polymer chains located inside particle regions. The polymer chains and particles may be stationary during bonding of the indication film to the first composite part. The method may additionally include bonding the first and second composite parts along an assembly bondline during which the particles in the indication film migrate with the polymer chains. The method may further include NDI-inspection of the assembly bondline by observing the appearance of the particles along a direction locally normal to an in-plane direction of the assembly bondline, and determining the bond quality of the assembly bondline based on particle density in the in-plane direction.
