Cigarette cutter
The invention relates to a cigarette cutter for cutting cigarettes. The cigarette cutter includes a housing assembly with a base portion and sidewall portion surrounding the base portion that together form a cavity wherein the base portion is coupled to a spring assembly and the spring assembly is coupled to a plunger assembly through a guide rail. The plunger assembly includes a base plate coupled to a cutter assembly that includes a blade that extends a distance from the base of the plunger assembly. In addition, formed along the sidewall portion is an aperture and coupled with the aperture is a cigarette receiving plate for receiving a cigarette and the receiving plate includes a groove or slot that runs vertical to the cigarette. The plunger when compressed extends the blade through the aperture and through the cigarette and to the bottom of the groove or through the slot so as to provide a clean cigarette cut. Once the plunger is released, the recoil of the spring assembly causes the plunge assembly to return to its normal position.

SYSTEM FOR SIMULATING ASH REMOVAL FROM A SMOKING ARTICLE AND A RELATED METHOD
A system for simulating ash removal from a smoking article and a related method are provided. The system includes a support arrangement supporting at least a portion of a smoking article to form a cantilever with respect to the support arrangement. The system also includes a suction device in fluid communication with the first longitudinal end of the smoking article, the suction device being configured to apply suction to the first longitudinal end to simulate a draw or puff on the smoking article. The system further includes an ignition device configured to ignite an ignitable material of the smoking article about the second longitudinal end thereof, the ignited ignitable material being transformed to an ash in response to successive draws or puffs applied by the suction device. The system still further including an ash-dislodging mechanism configured to selectively impact the cantilevered smoking article to periodically remove the ash.
Apparatus for cutting and storing a cigarette
An apparatus has a housing that has a first section and a second section. The first section has a first compartment for storing a cigarette and a second compartment for containing a cutting device having a blade. The first compartment is sealed from the second compartment. A slide button on the housing allows the user to move the cutting device within the second compartment. The second section has an opening and a hollow interior that are sized to allow a user to insert a portion of a cigarette through the opening and into the hollow interior. A user inserts the used portion of a cigarette into the opening and hollow interior and then uses the slide button to move the blade into the hollow interior to cut off the used portion of the cigarette. The user then places the remaining portion of the cigarette in the first compartment.
