The apparatus includes a former upon which material is wound, and a mold for receiving the former bearing the wound material. An applicator is provided for applying curable liquid within the mold. Advantageously, the pipe is formed at site to provide for efficient formation of a pipeline. A transported ISO container providing the material and curable liquid to the site can produce 800 metres of pipeline section, compared with 60 metres in the prior art, representing a significant increase in efficiency.
COMPOSITE STRUCTURE AND METHOD FOR FORMING SAME
A composite structure includes a first composite skin and a second composite skin defining a longitudinal cavity therebetween. The composite structure further includes at least one core disposed within the longitudinal cavity. The core includes a first surface and a second surface which define a core edge where the first surface contacts the second surface. The core is positioned with the core edge adjacent the at least one edge with the first surface contacting the first composite skin and the second surface contacting the second composite skin.
APPARATUSES AND METHODS FOR CONSOLIDATING FIBER-REINFORCED RESIN MATERIAL
An apparatus for consolidating fiber-reinforced resin material comprises a housing, comprising a barrel and a receptacle. The receptacle comprises a base, a lid, positionable relative to the base and relative to the barrel such that the housing is in an open state or a closed state, and a de-gassing port. The apparatus comprises a gasket that is in contact with the lid, the base, and the barrel when the housing is in the closed state. The apparatus comprises a piston, movable between a retracted position, in which the piston, in its entirety, is in the barrel, and an extended position, in which a portion of the piston is in the receptacle and another portion of the piston is in the barrel. The apparatus comprises a seal, which is in contact with the piston and the barrel, and a drive system, configured to control movement of the piston.
CORE AND METHOD OF FORMING STRUCTURAL BODY
A core according to one aspect of the present disclosure is a core that is inserted into a space between a skin and a stringer in a step of integrally molding the skin and the stringer, the skin including fiber-reinforced resin, the stringer having a hat-shaped section that is open toward the skin. The core includes: a first die that extends along a longitudinal direction of the stringer and contacts the skin; and a second die that extends along the longitudinal direction of the stringer and is located at an opposite side of the skin across the first die. The second die includes a material that is softer than the first die. The second die includes a slit perpendicular to the longitudinal direction of the stringer.
Method of forming a unitary composite structure
A method of manufacturing a unitary energy absorbing structure for a vehicle includes providing a first mold having a cavity receiving a first mandrel and a second mold having a cavity receiving a second mandrel. At least one mandrel segment is positioned in the first mold cavity and cooperates with the first mandrel. One or more layers of composite material at least partially cover the first mold cavity, first mandrel, at least one mandrel segment and second mold. The unitary structure is formed from the first layer, the second layer and the third layer of composite material with the first mandrel, the at least one mandrel segment and the second mandrel in the first mold and the second mold.
Composite assembly for unhardened fuselage components
Systems and methods are provided for fabricating a preform for a fuselage section of an aircraft. The method includes advancing a series of arcuate mandrel sections in a process direction through an assembly line, laying up fiber reinforced material onto the arcuate mandrel sections via layup stations, uniting the series of arcuate mandrel sections into a combined mandrel; and splicing the fiber reinforced material laid-up onto the arcuate mandrel sections.
FRP MOLDING SYSTEM AND METHOD
An FRP material has a circular arc part, and a member fixed to the circular arc part. The FRP forming system has a portion-pressing device, a member positioning mechanism, and a transport device configured to form the FRP material as a single body of a circular arc-shaped FRP part. The FRP material may comprise a single layer prepreg or a plurality of prepregs that have been layered. The portion-pressing device has upper and lower molds sandwiching a portion of the FRP material in a radial direction orthogonal to the circular arc part, and compresses intermittently a portion of the FRP part. The member positioning mechanism locates the position of the member relatively to the upper or lower mold. The transport device moves the portion of the FRP material that is compressed by the portion-pressing device. The portion-pressing and the transport are repeated to form the FRP part.
Contoured composite stringers
Aircraft that incorporates a rounded-hat composite stringer connected to an inner side of the skin of the aircraft to form an elongate conduit that defines a conduit axis, where the conduit axis includes at least one curving portion. The rounded-hat composite stringer can be manufactured by constructing a lower forming die and an upper forming die, each forming die having a length and defining a curve along at least a portion of the length of the die, cutting a pre-cured flat composite charge dimensioned to form the rounded-hat composite stringer, pressing the flat composite charge between the lower and upper forming dies to shape the composite charge into a pre-formed stringer having an inner side between curved fillet portions, contacting a forming member against the inner side of the pre-formed stringer, applying radius fillers to the curved fillet portions of the pre-formed stringer, curing the pre-formed stringer, and removing the forming member from the cured stringer.
JOINT STRUCTURE AND MANUFACTURING METHOD THEREOF
A joint structure includes a bent portion, a first member configured to be connected rotatably to a mating member, a second member configured to be connected rotatably to an actuator for driving the mating member, and a core shaft. The core shaft has a first connecting portion and a second connecting portion. The core shaft is connected to the first member at the first connecting portion and connected to the second member at the second connecting portion. The joint structure further includes a covering member covering the first connecting portion and the second connecting portion. The bent portion is provided at a position different from the first connecting portion.
FORMING DEVICE AND FORMING METHOD
A forming device includes: a forming jig extending along an axial direction; a forming die having a shape corresponding to a top part region and a wall part region of the forming jig; and a movement mechanism that moves the forming die so as to approach a bottom part region along a height direction HD. The forming die includes: a body part; a plate-shaped forming part that is attached to the body part so as to be swingable around a swing shaft; and a pressurization part that generates a pressurization force which causes a distal end part of the forming part to push a layered body against the wall part region when the forming die is moved by the movement mechanism so as to approach the bottom part region. In accordance with the distal end part, the part causes a contact surface to contact a region of the layered body.
