Process for the Production of SMC Hollow Components
A process for the production of fiber composite hollow SMC components is provided. In the process an SMC-suitable semi-finished fiber composite material is arranged over or around a wash-removable salt core system. The semi-finished fiber composite material and core system are arranged in an SMC mold, followed by molding of an SMC component incorporating the semi-finished fiber composite material and core system. The wash-removable salt may then be removed by washing to result in an SMC component containing a hollow region.
Composite connectors and methods of manufacturing the same
A method of manufacturing a composite connector for a fluid transfer conduit is provided which comprises applying continuous fibre reinforcement, oriented at least partially circumferentially and pre-impregnated with a thermoplastic polymer to a tubular mould portion which extends substantially parallel to a central axis C; applying at least one further mould portion to form a complete mould in which the continuous fibre reinforcement is enclosed and injecting a thermoplastic polymer into the mould to form a connector with a tubular hub portion and a flange portion which extends from the hub portion at an angle to the central axis C. The tubular hub portion comprises a tubular seal section with an inner layer and an outer wherein the inner layer comprises the continuous fibre reinforcement and the outer layer comprises the injected thermoplastic polymer.
Forming tool and methods for forming a curvature into a composite stiffener
Methods of forming a curvature into a composite stiffener and a forming tool are presented. The composite stiffener is positioned in a forming region created by a base assembly and an upper assembly. A first airflow is applied through the material of the base assembly. A second airflow is applied through the material of the upper assembly. A plurality of brackets of the upper assembly is moved relative to each other to change a curvature of the forming region along a length of the forming region to form the curvature into the composite stiffener.
Method for manufacturing a part made of composite material for an aircraft structure by pultrusion and cocuring
The manufacture of structural elements for aircraft requires the use of complex and costly methods, particularly in the case of parts of elongate overall shape and variable thickness or cross section made of composite material. The disclosure herein proposes to overcome this problem by a method that allows the manufacture of a structural part from a preform made of composite material of simple shape obtained by pultrusion and of one or more reinforcing elements made of composite material and secured by cocuring with the preform to a region of this preform which region is to be reinforced.
Method for manufacturing rack housing and rack housing
Two laminating sheets each formed by laminating a carbon fiber sheet and a film of a thermoplastic resin are set on heating in an area of a mold corresponding to a tubular portion of a rack housing. The mold is clamped, the carbon fiber sheet is impregnated with the thermoplastic resin of the film, each of the two laminating sheets is pressed into a shape with a half tube corresponding to a half circumference of the tubular portion and connection portions at both ends of the half tube in a circumferential direction, and two half tubes are bonded together at the connection portions thereof to form the tubular portion.
SMART FRAC BALL
A frac stage isolation device including instruments for measuring pressure, temperature, salinity, pH, electromagnetic waves and/or other physical parameters such as vibrations from acoustic energy emissions during a hydraulic fracturing process. The frac stage isolation device blocks a flow passage in a frac plug to isolate a previously fracked section of a wellbore. The frac stage isolation device may also be used without a frac plug in applications requiring data acquisition.
Production in composite material of a lobed structure of a flow mixer
The invention relates to the production of a composite material of a lobed structure (10) of a flow mixer which comprises a portion having a plurality of lobes (17, 19). For this purpose, a fibrous preform containing a resin will be produced in a simple geometric configuration of developable revolution. This is an intermediate state. By exploiting the thermoformable or thermosetting nature of the resin, the geometry of this intermediate preform is modified to deform it with limited offsets towards the final geometry.
Composite materials having reinforced access openings
Structurally reinforced composite components are disclosed having access openings reinforced to increase strain load and buckling load without adding weight to the composite components by inducing out-of-plane regions proximate to the access opening during composite prepreg laminate layup.
Composite stiffener
A composite stiffener for a stiffener reinforced panel is disclosed. The stiffener has a longitudinal direction and a run-out region which terminates at an end of the stiffener. The stiffener also has a constant section region inboard of the run-out region in the longitudinal direction and having a constant cross section transverse to the longitudinal direction with a crown between adjacent foot portions. The run-out region has a changing cross section transverse to the longitudinal direction with a crown between adjacent foot portions and the crown reduces in height towards the end of the stiffener forming a ramp. The composite stiffener includes a number of blankets of non-crimp fabric layers.
METHOD AND DEVICE FOR THE PRODUCTION OF A PLASTIC PROFILE
Straight plastic profiles from a plastics material and a continuous reinforcement are predominantly produced continuously in a strand, usually by the pultrusion method. As the plastic profile is pulled through a mold, only straight plastic profiles are formed in known pultrusion methods. In the production of plastic profiles using semi-finished products or complex fibrous constructions, congestion of the fibrous constructions or of the semi-finished products, and thus solidification of the material, may arise when entering the mold, such that the process has to be stopped. A method and a device for the simple production of individually molded plastic profiles is provided in that the mold is formed from at least two mold parts that in relation to the cross section of the plastic profile are split and are moved in a temporally offset manner counter to a production direction of the plastic profile along a portion of the plastic profile.
