APPARATUS FOR MANUFACTURING FIBER REINFORCED RESIN MATERIAL
An apparatus for manufacturing a fiber reinforced resin material, by cutting long fiber bundles into a plurality of pieces having a predetermined length, and impregnating the cut fiber bundles with resin, includes a plurality of cutters each having a predetermined length and configured to cut the long fiber bundles, and a conveyance unit provided below the cutters and configured to continuously convey the fiber bundles cut with the cutters. The cutters are arranged along a conveying direction of the conveyance unit, such that respective longitudinal directions of the cutters form different angles with the conveying direction of the conveyance unit, when viewed from above the cutters.
FIBER-REINFORCED PLASTIC AND METHOD FOR PRODUCING SAME
A fiber-reinforced plastic producing method capable of easily producing a fiber-reinforced plastic in which swelling and warpage are less likely to occur and of which excellent mechanical characteristics and isotropy are ensured, and a fiber-reinforced plastic in which swelling and warpage are suppressed from occurring. The fiber-reinforced plastic producing method has a step for obtaining a material (A) including a prepreg base material in which a region (B), where reinforcing fibers pulled and aligned in one direction are impregnated with a matrix resin and a plurality of cuts (b) are formed, and a region (C), where a plurality of cuts (c) are formed, are alternately formed in a direction orthogonal to a fiber axis of the reinforcing fiber, a step for hot-pressing the material (A) while moving the material (A) under specific conditions, and a step for cooling the pressed material (A) to obtain the fiber-reinforced plastic.
METHOD OF MAKING AN INSULATION MATERIAL AND AN INSULATED MAILER
A method and system for producing an insulated mailer and an insulated box having an insulative paper fiber pad substructure with a density of less than about 10 pounds per cubic foot. The insulative paper fiber pad has entangled reinforcement fibers. A method of forming an insulative paper fiber pad using recycling-compatible or water soluble adhesive and paper layers is provided.
CONTINUOUS SHEET PRESS AND METHOD OF OPERATING SAME
A press for making a continuous sheet from composite material has upper and lower press belts having respective lower and upper reaches that vertically spacedly confront one another across a press gap having an upstream inlet end and a downstream outlet end, and that have transversely spaced outer edges extending in the direction. The belts are advanced direction and thereby draw a mat of the composite material in the inlet end, compress it into the sheet, and expelling the sheet from the downstream end. Two transversely spaced elastic seal strips extend in the direction in the gap and are each engaged between a respective one of the outer edges of the upper belt and the respective outer edge of the lower belt. Each belt has at each of the edges a surface in engagement with the respective edge strip and having an average peak-to-valley height of less than 1 m.
Noodle Comprised of a Matrix of Discontinuous Filaments
A method and apparatus for manufacturing a filler for a composite structure. The apparatus may comprise a filler. The filler may comprise a fiber matrix that is uniform in all directions. The fiber matrix may comprise a first plurality of discontinuous filaments and a second plurality of discontinuous filaments. Each filament of the first plurality of discontinuous filaments may be comprised of a stiffening material. Each filament of the second plurality of discontinuous filaments may be comprised of a binding material. Discontinuous filaments of both the first plurality of discontinuous filaments and the second plurality of discontinuous filaments may be randomly oriented and entangled with each other.
Method for manufacturing SMC
A manufacturing method of an SMC of the present invention comprises (i) forming chopped carbon fiber bundles by chopping a continuous carbon fiber bundle having a filament number of NK with a rotary cutter, (ii) fragmentation-processing the chopped carbon fiber bundles by using a fragmentation-processing apparatus comprising a rotating body, (iii) forming a carbon fiber mat by depositing the fragmentation-processed chopped carbon fiber bundles on a carrier film traveling below the rotary cutter, and (iv) impregnating the carbon fiber mat with a thermosetting resin composition, wherein N is 20 or more, and the fragmentation-processing apparatus comprises a first pin roller and a second pin roller which are disposed side by side, each having a rotation axis parallel to a rotation axis direction of the rotary cutter.
Repulpable container
A repulpable insulated container assembly having a container formed of paper such as corrugated cardboard or varying paper materials and defining an interior; and a repulpable insert placed within the interior of the container and formed of a first paper layer; and a paper fiber pad coupled to the first paper layer.
Insulation material and method of making insulation material
A repulpable insulation material includes a batt formed of a mixture of thermoplastic binder fibers and cellulose fibers bound together by the thermoplastic binder fibers, the thermoplastic binder fibers making up about 0.5% to 25% by weight of the batt, the repulpable insulation material having a weight within a range from 1000 GSM to 1600 GSM, wherein subjecting the repulpable insulation material to a repulpability test produces greater than 85% fiber yield.
