WIDE-NECKED CONTAINER HAVING AN ATTACHED THREADED SLEEVE
A method for producing a container having a threaded wide neck, includes steps of: heating a preform having a polyester body, on which there is mounted a polyolefin sleeve positioned next to an area of the body corresponding to the wide neck of the container; introducing the heated preform, with the sleeve, into a mould having the footprint of the container, including a threaded area having the footprint of the wide neck; injecting a pressurised fluid into the preform in order to form a blank of the container including a lower portion including the wide neck with a thread formed in the sleeve and an upper portion above the wide neck; separating the upper portion from the lower portion that thus forms the container.
Method of stabilizing a plastic aerosol container
A plastic aerosol container includes a main body portion that is constructed and arranged to withstand aerosol pressurization within a range that is about 50-300 psig. The plastic aerosol container also includes a finish portion that is unitary with the main body portion. The finish portion may be threaded or unthreaded. The finish portion has a side wall, an upper sealing surface, at least one helical thread and a support ledge beneath the helical thread. Reinforcement structure is positioned beneath the support ledge for reinforcing the finish portion against deformation due to the pressurization. A method of stabilizing a plastic aerosol container is also disclosed.
Integrally Blow-Moulded Bag-in-Container Comprising an Inner Layer and an Outer Layer Comprising Energy Absorbing Additives, Preform for Making It and Process for Producing it
A preform for an integrally blow-moulded bag-in-container uses an inner layer and an outer layer, wherein the preform forms a two-layer container upon blow-moulding, and wherein the obtained inner layer of the container releases from the thus obtained outer layer upon introduction of a gas at a point of interface between the two layers. At least one of the inner and outer layers includes at least one additive allowing both inner and outer layers to reach their respective blow-moulding temperatures substantially simultaneously.
Mold for blow molding a hot-fill container with increased stretch ratios
A mold for blow molding a container from a preform, the container including a wall portion and a base including a high standing ring and a central outwardly-inclined invertible diaphragm, the mold including sidewalls forming a counter print of the wall portion of the container (1) and a mold base (36) having an upper surface (37) defining a counter print of the container base, wherein the upper surface (37) includes: an annular peripheral face (43) corresponding to an annular support flange of the container base; a frusto-conical outer face (44) corresponding to an inner portion (11) of the high standing ring, the outer face (44) protruding upwardly with a draft angle (A2) from an inner edge of the peripheral annular face (43) up to a sharp apex (45), and a frusto-conical downwardly inclined inner face (46) corresponding to the invertible diaphragm.
INJECTION MOLDING MACHINES AND RELATED METHODS FOR PRODUCING PREFORMS
A method for injection molding a preform includes: a) loading a barrier membrane into a first mold cavity; b) injecting melt into the first mold cavity to undermold the barrier membrane and form a preform inner layer on an inside of the barrier membrane; c) moving the preform inner layer and the barrier membrane from the first mold cavity into a second mold cavity; and d) injecting melt into the second mold cavity to overmold the barrier membrane and form a preform outer layer on an outside of the barrier membrane. Preforms formed by the method and an injection molding machine to carry out the method are also disclosed.
Nozzle shaft assembly
The present disclosure includes a forming and filling head for simultaneously forming and filling a polymeric container with liquid. The forming and filling head includes a nozzle shaft assembly having a first portion removably engaged with a second portion. The nozzle shaft assembly defines a through-bore extending through each one of the first portion and the second portion. An annular seal is within the through-bore and is seated at one of the first portion and the second portion to permit access to the annular seal when the first portion and the second portion are disengaged. Flow ports are defined by a wall of the nozzle shaft assembly. The flow ports extend from an exterior of the nozzle shaft assembly to the through-bore to direct the liquid for forming and filling the polymeric container into the through-bore.
CONTAINER PREFORM WITH TAMPER EVIDENCE FINISH PORTION
A preform is provided for blow-molding to form a container. The preform includes a finish portion for rotatably engaging a closure to seal contents within an interior of the container. The finish portion comprises a cylindrical body that begins at an opening to the interior and extends to and includes a tamper evidence ledge. A mirror polished sealing surface inside the finish portion cooperates with a plug seal of the closure to seal the container. Threads outside the finish portion engage with similar threads inside the closure. Thread starts of the threads reduce potential damage to the threads during installation of the closure. The thread starts may include a start pitch that is greater than a thread pitch of the threads. A handling valley disposed between the threads and the tamper evidence ledge facilitates air-conveying the container along a manufacturing assembly line.
Method of making multi-layer blow molded article with functional, visual, and/or tactile effects
Method for making blow molded articles having a predetermined feature incorporated into the wall provided by variations in the thickness of the wall of the article corresponding to a predetermined pattern etched into the preform from which the article was formed.
Container preform with stepped interior finish
A preform is provided for blow-molding to form a container. The preform includes a finish portion for rotatably engaging a closure to seal pressurized contents within an interior of the container. The finish portion comprises a cylindrical body that begins at an opening to the interior and extends to and includes a tamper evidence ledge. A bevel at a beginning of the opening receives a plug seal of the closure. Multiple mirror polished surfaces beyond the bevel are configured to cooperate with the plug seal to seal the container. Mirror polished transition surfaces are disposed between diameter changes within the finish portion. In some embodiments, wherein the plug seal includes a sidewall profile that mates with the transition surfaces, an interior surface of the preform has a diameter that tightly compresses an end of the plug seal to contain pressurized contents within the container.
Nozzle for Reduced Outward Force on Preform Finish
A nozzle for forming a container preform into a plastic container includes a nozzle body and a sealing portion proximate an end of the nozzle body. The sealing portion is configured to engage with a stepped interior of a finish portion of a preform having a longitudinal axis to seal without the use of an O-ring and to preclude any portion of the nozzle body from contacting the sealing surface.
