The canister including a plurality of storage containers each removably integrated into the canister to contain accessories for rolling cigarettes. An ashtray is positionable on the canister and a lid is positionable on the ashtray for closing the ashtray. A rolling tray, comprised of a deformable material, is provided such that the rolling tray can be rolled into a tube for storing in a respective one of the storage containers.

The first conductive property is different from the second conductive property and the first dielectric property is different from the second dielectric property. The information encoding pattern is configured to be detectable by a capacitive touch screen (24), e.g. a touch screen of a mobile device (22), such as a smartphone or tablet computer, when the information encoding pattern interacts with the touch screen, i.e. when the information encoding pattern approaches and/or touches the touch screen.

Packaging with an information encoding pattern

A user may therefore assess the freshness and quality of a tobacco material within the product, without any risk or altering the properties of the tobacco material via egression from the electronic device to the storage environment.

A method and system for authenticating a variety of consumer products is provided. The system includes a plurality of near field communication (NFC) tags configured for coupling to a variety of consumer products, the tags programmed to provide identifying data associated with a single consumer product to an NFC-capable mobile computing device, the NFC having a structure that detects opening of the consumer product, a central database for storing said data, a server communicably connected to a communications network and configured to access the database, and a mobile application executing on a mobile computing device, configured to read said identifying data from the NFC tag and communicate said identifying data to the server.
