Transparent or translucent sound diffuser-absorbers include a first glass sheet of less than 0.8 mm thickness and a second glass sheet of less than 0.8 mm thickness with a transparent or translucent adhesive layer there between, the adhesive layer adhering the first and second sheets in a fixed configuration such that a first major surface of the first glass sheet has a smooth, repeatedly rising and falling shape. The diffuser-absorbers further include a plurality of through-holes extending through the first glass sheet and through the adhesive layer and through the second glass sheet. Methods of forming are also disclosed.

HYBRID ASYMMETRIC AUTOMOTIVE LAMINATE

The laminated glazing proposed in this invention has an outer glass layer (201) with holes (20) and a thin inner facing glass layer (202) with shorter length dimension whereas the bottom edge (30) does not have holes on it and which does not overlap with the holes (20) in the outer glass layer (201). One or more retention layers (36), comprising reinforcement and adhesive layers, serve to connect the glazing mounting means (32) to both of the glass layers (201, 202) providing a thin laminated glazing with holes (20) that in the event of failure is retained by the mounting means (32).

PROCESS

A process for preparing a laminated glazing comprises providing a first glass sheet formed into a desired shape with a first thickness by a first procedure and providing a second glass sheet formed into a desired shape with a second thickness by a second procedure with an interlayer located therebetween, and laminating together the first and second glass sheets and the interlayer at a temperature and pressure sufficient to adhere the interlayer material to the glass sheets and in which the process further comprises applying a mould which is shaped substantially the same as the first glass sheet, against the second glass sheet, during laminating to adhere the interlayer material to the two glass sheets such that after lamination, the shape of the second glass sheet is substantially the same as the shape of the first glass sheet.

COLD-FORMABILITY OF GLASS LAMINATE ARTICLE UTILIZING STRESS PREDICTION ANALYSIS AND RELATED METHODS
20230242434 · 2023-08-03 ·

Articles and methods related to the cold-forming of glass laminate articles utilizing stress prediction analysis are provided. A cold-forming estimator (CFE) value that is related to the stress experienced by a glass sheet of a glass laminate during cold-forming is calculated based on a plurality of geometric parameters of glass layer(s) of a glass laminate article. The calculated CFE value is compared to a cold-forming threshold related to the probability that defects are formed in the complexly curved glass laminate article during cold-forming. Cold-formed glass laminate articles are also provided having geometric parameters such that the CFE value is below the cold-forming threshold.
