AUTOMOTIVE LAMINATE WITH EMBEDDED WIRE CIRCUIT
Laminated glazings with embedded wire circuits, have many uses. But, due to the higher cost of manufacture, they are not widely used. This invention provides a process to reduce the cost of production for embedded wire laminated glazing. Rather than embedding the wire one interlayer at a time, several circuits are produced on the same sheet, cut out and then inserted into the interlayer of each separate laminate during assembly, reducing the direct labor and capital investment required.
GLASS AND EXTERIOR PANEL DESIGN FOR LOW NOISE TRANSMISSION
A noise insulating support panel is provided for a structural assembly and includes a base substrate component and at least one localized stiffening reinforcement feature. The reinforcement feature generally extends across the base substrate component in a length direction aligned with, i.e., substantially parallel to, or substantially perpendicular to, a direction of airflow exhibiting turbulent pressure onto the base substrate component. The reinforcement feature cooperates with the base substrate component to minimize energy transmission through the base substrate component. If the base substrate component is a body panel, the reinforcement feature may be a stiffening rib member; if laminated glass, the reinforcement feature is located within an interlayer disposed between glass layers. The interlayer may include a first region including polyvinyl butyral having a first stiffness, and a second region including polyvinyl butyral having a second, lower stiffness. The reinforcement feature may also be an edge stiffening treatment.
IMPROVED ALIGNING AND LAMINATING METHOD FOR THE PRODUCTION OF THIN LAMINATED GLASS FROM GLASS PANES WHICH DO NOT FIT TOGETHER ACCURATELY
A method for producing laminated glass or a precursor thereof using a first glass pane with a thickness of at least 1.4 mm and a second glass pane with a thickness of not more than 1.0 mm, the first and second glass panes differing in curvature and/or locally in shape, includes aligning an arrangement including the first and second glass panes and a laminating film by positioning a side edge of the arrangement against a stop element; pre-fixing the aligned arrangement at at least two locations on the positioned side edge of the arrangement by one or more fixing elements and heating, after which the fixing element or elements are removed again; and forming a fixed arrangement by passing the pre-fixed arrangement through a roller arrangement with the pre-fixed side edge of the arrangement ahead. The arrangement is heated in sections during passage.
INTERMEDIATE FILM FOR LAMINATED GLASS, AND LAMINATED GLASS
Provided is an interlayer film for laminated glass capable of effectively enhancing the sound insulating property at 6300 Hz while effectively preventing deterioration in sound insulating property at 3150 Hz in laminated glass. An interlayer film for laminated glass according to the present invention has a one-layer structure or a two or more-layer structure and includes a resin layer containing a resin and a plasticizer. The interlayer film has a resonance frequency X of 550 Hz or more and 740 Hz or less, a loss factor Y in a secondary mode of 0.35 or more, and satisfies a formula: Y>0.0008X0.142 in a measurement of resonance frequency in a secondary mode in a damping test for laminated glass according to a central exciting method of laminated glass, when the laminated glass is obtained by arranging the interlayer film between two glass plates of 25 mm wide, 300 mm long and 2 mm thick.
COLOURED LAMINATED GLAZING
A process for the manufacture of a colored laminated glazing including at least two glass sheets connected together by a thermoplastic interlayer, includes deposition, by the liquid route, on a first glass sheet, of a polymeric layer including a coloring agent and polymeric compounds, drying and optionally curing of the polymeric layer, assembling of the glass sheet, coated with the colored polymeric layer, with a colorless transparent thermoplastic interlayer and with the second glass sheet, so that the colored polymeric layer is in direct contact with the interlayer, degassing, during which the air trapped between the glass sheets and the thermoplastic interlayer is removed, and heat treatment under pressure and/or under vacuum of the laminated glass at a temperature of between 60 and 200 C., during which the coloring agent present in the polymeric layer migrates toward the thermoplastic interlayer and during which the laminated glazing is assembled.
HIGH HEAT TRANSFER, STRENGTHENED GLASS LAMINATE AND RELATED HEATING SYSTEM AND METHOD
A glass laminate article having high efficiency heat transfer characteristics and related systems and methods are provided. The glass laminate article has a thin, high heat conductive inner glass layer that efficiently transfers heat from a heating system throughout the glass article. The glass laminate article may be used as a vehicle window and used as part of a heating system and method for defogging or defrosting the vehicle window. The glass laminate article may include a heating coating adjacent an outer glass layer which further improves heating efficiency.
Windshield with electrically controllable sun visor
A windshield with an electrically controllable sun visor is described. The windshield includes an outer pane and an inner pane that are bonded to one another via an intermediate layer. According to one aspect, a functional element with electrically controllable optical properties is incorporated into the intermediate layer and above a central field of vision. The functional element is connected to the outer pane via a region of a first thermoplastic layer, and is connected to the inner pane via a region of a second thermoplastic layer. According to another aspect, the region of the first thermoplastic layer and/or the region of the second thermoplastic layer is tinted or colored.
LAMINATE HAVING ORGANIC INK DECORATION AND HIGH IMPACT RESISTANCE
