An inkjet printer includes a head including a nozzle configured to eject pigment ink supplied from a tank during a print operation and during a purge operation and a purge mechanism. A controller configured to determine whether to control the purge mechanism to perform the purge operation for discharging the pigment ink from the nozzle and, when determining to control the purge mechanism to perform the purge operation, determine a remaining amount of the pigment ink remaining in the tank. The controller is configured to determine a discharge amount to be discharged from the nozzle when performing the purge operation based on the remaining amount of the pigment ink remaining in the tank and control the purge mechanism to perform the purge operation based on the discharge amount.

Controlling the amount of printing fluid

A method for controlling the amount of printing fluid deposited by a printhead for a plurality of passes of a swath width of a printing process. The printing process may include periodic servicing of the printhead. The method may include determining an amount of printing fluid to be deposited for each pass of the swath width; identifying which pass of the swath width servicing is to occur; and reducing the determined amount of printing fluid deposited during a first pass immediately following servicing of the printhead.

INKJET RECORDING APPARATUS AND CONTROL METHOD THEREFOR

A control method for an inkjet recording apparatus includes: a head housing step of housing in a head housing part an inkjet head having a nozzle surface on which nozzles configured to eject an ink are formed; a humidity acquiring step of acquiring a relative humidity of the nozzle surface of the inkjet head housed in the head housing part; and a temperature and humidity regulating step of performing at least one of a humidification process and a dehumidification process according to the relative humidity of the nozzle surface acquired in by the humidity acquiring step to set the relative humidity of the nozzle surface to 37% RH or more and 65% RH or less.

CONTROLLING A FLUID FIRING UNIT OF A PRINTHEAD

In some examples, a method includes, in response to a fluid firing unit being operated according to a normal printing mode, applying a first voltage to the fluid firing unit to fire the fluid firing unit during a printing operation. The method further includes determining, using a sensor, whether a predetermined condition is met, and in response to determining that the predetermined condition is met, operating the fluid firing unit according to a recovery mode in which a second voltage higher than the first voltage is applied to the fluid firing unit to clean the fluid firing unit.

An inkjet printer is operated to print an ink image and clear inkjets simultaneously. The inkjet printer delivers to a first inkjet in a printhead a first signal that ejects an ink drop from the first inkjet that corresponds to a pixel of an ink image stored in a memory of the printer and delivers to at least one other inkjet in the printhead a second signal that ejects an ink drop from the at least one other inkjet that does not correspond to a pixel of the ink image stored in the memory of the printer.

A cleaning apparatus carries ink ejected from an inkjet head and cleans a transfer body that transfers the ink onto a recording medium at a transfer nip, and the cleaning apparatus includes: a cleaning rotor that contacts the transfer body and rotates in a counter direction opposite to a moving direction of the transfer body to remove a pre-coating agent and an impurity present on the transfer body after transfer.

METHOD FOR MAINTENANCE OF LIQUID DISCHARGE HEAD AND LIQUID DISCHARGE APPARATUS

The method includes: a wiping processing step of performing wiping processing on a liquid discharge surface by eccentrically rotating a wiping surface of a wiping member, including raised irregularities on the wiping surface thereof, in a plane parallel to the liquid discharge surface of a liquid discharge head and moving the wiping member in a first direction in a state in which the wiping surface is in contact with the liquid discharge surface; and a post-wiping processing purge processing step of performing post-wiping processing purge processing after the wiping processing step. An eccentric parameter as a value obtained by dividing an eccentric distance of the wiping surface by an interval between the nozzles in a second direction orthogonal to the first direction, is set to 10 or more in the wiping processing step.

LIQUID DISCHARGING APPARATUS, CONTROL METHOD OF LIQUID DISCHARGING APPARATUS, AND DEVICE DRIVER

A liquid discharging apparatus includes a liquid discharging head that discharges a liquid from a nozzle, a control circuit that controls a discharge operation of the liquid discharging head, a nozzle omission detection mechanism that detects a discharge fault of the nozzle, a maintenance mechanism that performs a maintenance operation, which ejects the liquid from the nozzle of the liquid discharging head, and a display device that displays a setting screen relating to the discharge operation of the liquid discharging head. The control circuit executes the discharge operation of the liquid discharging head on the basis of the operation mode selected by a user using the operation mode selection screen for selecting a plurality of operation modes in which a situation in which a transition to the maintenance operation is performed in a case in which the discharge fault is detected, differs, on the display device.

There is provided a printer including: a liquid jetting head; a receiving section; a waste-liquid storing section; a connecting channel connecting the receiving section and the waste-liquid storing section; a pump; and a controller. The controller executes: printing; recovering nozzles; discharging the liquid, which is present in at least one of the receiving section and the connecting channel, to the waste-liquid storing section, after the recovering of the nozzles. Under a condition that there is no input of the print data before the discharging of the liquid, the controller executes the discharging of the liquid continuously after the recovering of the nozzles; under a condition that there is an input of the print data before the discharging of the liquid, the controller executes the printing after the recovering of the nozzles and then executes at least a part of the discharging of the liquid after the printing.
