A seat support for use with a vehicle seat and adapted to engage a track provided on the floor of a vehicle, the track comprising two inwardly-directed lips on opposed sides of a slot, the lips providing first alternating protrusions and recesses along the length of the track, the protrusions being spaced apart by a spacing distance, the first and second protrusions defining shoulder surfaces on each side thereof, the seat support having an elongate main body and comprising: an interface portion which has a profile comprising second alternating protrusions and recesses, the protrusions being spaced apart by the same spacing distance; and a first bracing member provided at or near a forward end of the main body, and a second bracing member provided at or near a rear end of the main body; wherein: the seat support is configured such that the second protrusions may be aligned with the first recesses so that the interface portion may be placed within the slot in an engagement position, the seat support being moveable with respect to the slot, from the engagement position into a bracing position in which the first and second protrusions are substantially aligned, preventing the interface portion from being removed from the slot; one of the first bracing member and the second bracing member is a fixed bracing member, being fixed substantially fixed in place with respect to the main body of the seat support, so that in both the engagement position and the bracing position the first bracing member is received in one of the recesses of the track; the other one of the first bracing member and the second bracing member is a moveable bracing member, being movable with respect to the main body of the seat support, between a retracted position, in which, when the interface portion is placed within the slot, the movable bracing member is above the level of the track, and a locking position, in which, when the interface portion is placed within the slot, the moveable bracing member extends into the slot; and when the seat support is in the bracing position and the movable bracing member is in the locking position, the first and second bracing members are received in respective recesses of the track, the first bracing member is braced against a first pair of shoulders on the track that face towards the rear of the main body, and the second bracing member is braced against a second pair of shoulders on the track that face towards the front of the main body.

GRAVITY-ASSISTED TRACKING BASE ASSEMBLY FOR AIRCRAFT SEAT
20210221520 · 2021-07-22 ·

A gravity-assisted tracking base assembly for an aircraft seat includes base rails mounted to floor tracks in an aircraft cabin by floor track fittings in fixed positions, the base rails connected by a tracking member for providing longitudinal tracking while minimizing added height. The base rails include tracking slots extending longitudinally, and the tracking member includes tracking elements translatable forward and backward along the tracking slots, allowing an aircraft seat mounted to the tracking member to translate forward and backward relative to the base. The tracking member includes a locking mechanism for locking the tracking member and seat in intermediate positions within the tracking slots. The tracking slots may be oriented slightly downward from the horizontal to allow for gravity-assisted tracking or to counteract the nose-up flight angles associated with cruising altitude, providing for easier seat tracking.

SEAT UNIT STRUCTURE, SEAT UNIT, AND ATTACHMENT METHOD THEREOF

An object of the present invention is to provide a seat unit structure, a seat unit, and an attachment method thereof in which component reinstallation does not arise when the seat unit is attached in an aircraft. One representative seat unit structure according to the present invention relates to a seat unit structure configured to support a seat, wherein the structure has a lower structure having a monocoque structure and defines an outermost shell in at least one direction of the seat unit. That is, the member mounted in the one direction of the seat unit can be stored inside the outermost shell of the structure. In addition, the one direction is the width direction of the airframe.

SEAT TRACK STUD WITH ROLL FREEDOM

Described is a seat track stud for attaching a passenger seat to a seat track having a first stud member, a second stud member, and a pin. The first stud member includes a base portion with at least one flanged edge, a first securing portion extending from the base portion and defining a first securing portion opening; and a second securing portion extending from the base portion at a location opposite the first securing portion and defining a second securing portion opening. The second stud member includes a connecting portion that defines a connecting portion opening and that is sized to fit between the first securing portion and the second securing portion. The pin extends through the first securing portion opening, the connecting portion opening, and the second securing portion opening.

Methods for arranging passenger seats and passenger service units in aircraft cabins

Disclosed are methods for arranging passenger seats and passenger service units in aircraft cabins as well as locating devices used in these methods. These methods and devices provide fast and efficient ways for directly referencing the position of each passenger service unit relative to a corresponding passenger seat. For example, a passenger seat is positioned on a seat rail using rail markers. Each set of markers corresponds to a different seating configuration. A locating device is then placed on the passenger seat such that the device datum contacts the seat cushion. A locator of the locating device determines a reference, in an overhead compartment, for installing a passenger service unit, corresponding to this seat. The reference is based on an angle between the datum and the locator, which is adjustable in some examples.

Track fitting with quick release lock for aircraft seating

A track fitting for securing a seat pedestal of an aircraft seat to a floor of an aircraft may comprise a strut and a lock assembly. The strut may include an aft section configured to attach to an aft foot of the seat pedestal, a forward section configured to attach to a forward foot of the seat pedestal, and a central section extending between the aft section and the forward section. The lock assembly may be located proximate the aft section of the strut.

SEAT INDEXING SYSTEMS AND METHODS

A seat indexing system and method for an internal cabin of a vehicle include a seat assembly, and an indexing wheel coupled to the seat assembly. The indexing wheel is configured to be moved between a stowed position, in which the indexing wheel is disengaged from a seat track, and a deployed position, in which the indexing wheel engages the seat track.
