Provided is an aerosol generating apparatus including: a main body into which a cigarette is inserted; a first electrically conductive pattern provided on a portion of the main body to function as one of a heater for heating the cigarette and a temperature sensor for sensing a temperature of the cigarette; a second electrically conductive pattern provided on another portion of the main body to function as one of the heater and the temperature sensor; and a controller controlling the first electrically conductive pattern and the second electrically conductive pattern to make the first electrically conductive pattern and the second electrically conductive pattern function as one of the heater and the temperature sensor.

An electrically heated aerosol-generating system is provided, including a primary device and a secondary, aerosol-generating, device having a cavity at a proximal end configured to removably receive an aerosol-generating substrate. The primary device includes a housing; a power supply; a cavity in the housing configured to receive the secondary device; a plurality of electrical contacts within the cavity, each contact being configured to contact a corresponding contact of the secondary device when the secondary device is in the cavity, at least one of the contacts being connected to the power supply; and a lid configured to cover an opening of the cavity, and being moveable between a first closed position, and a second open position. The lid includes a protrusion configured to prevent movement from the second position to the first position if the secondary device is inserted incorrectly.

RE-CHARGING PACK FOR AN E-CIGARETTE

Various embodiments provide a pack for holding and re-charging an e-cigarette. The pack includes a pack battery; a body portion including a tube for receiving an e-cigarette; a re-charging mechanism for re-charging the e-cigarette received into the tube using the pack battery, wherein the e-cigarette can be re-charged in the tube without disassembly of the e-cigarette; and a dual activation mechanism comprising two separate triggers for causing the re-charging mechanism to begin re-charging the e-cigarette received into the tube using the pack battery. The re-charging begins only in response to the direct activation by a user of both of the separate triggers.

The control circuitry may control the e-vaping device element via an e-vaping device communication link, and the control circuitry may receive the control command via a computer device communication link. The computer device communication link may be an ad hoc wireless network communication link. The control circuitry may process information received from the e-vaping device to communicate status information and signals to the computer device. Separate e-vaping device elements may be identified and associated with separate accounts, and e-vaping device usage may be tracked in association with said accounts based on the separate identities of elements used during vaping.

A personal charging case for charging an e-vaping device includes a body to establish a partial enclosure of the e-vaping device, an electrical charging circuit, and a spring element. The electrical charging circuit includes an electrical connection within the body interior and may charge the e-vaping device internal battery via contact with an electrical connection of the e-vaping device. The spring element exerts a spring force on the e-vaping device to push the e-vaping device electrical connection away from contact with the electrical charging circuit electrical connection in the absence of a holding force. The case may include a cover that exerts the holding force on the e-vaping device to push the e-vaping device electrical connection into contact with the electrical charging circuit electrical connection. The case may include one or more light indicators to indicate amounts of electrical power and pre-vapor formulation in the e-vaping device.
