An aerosol generating device according to one embodiment may include: a housing that forms an exterior of the aerosol generating device and includes an opening into which a cigarette is inserted; a heater that generates an aerosol by heating the cigarette; a battery that supplies power to the heater; a temperature sensor that senses a temperature of an internal component of the aerosol generating device; and a controller that prevents abnormal operation of the aerosol generating device based on the temperature of the internal component sensed by the temperature sensor.

An aerosol-generating system provided, including an electrically operated aerosol-generating element; a first electrochemical energy storage device (EESD) configured to supply electrical power to the aerosol-generating element; and an EESD temperature control system including at least one temperature sensor positioned to sense a temperature of the first EESD and an electrical heater configured to heat the first EESD, wherein the EESD temperature control system operates the electrical heater dependent on an output from the at least one temperature sensor.

A holder for an aerosol-generating device is provided, the holder including: a docking arrangement to engage with the device and including a docking space defined between a first end and an opposing second end spaced from and fixed relative to the first end, the docking space accommodating a longitudinal dimension of the device; and a retainer to engage with an end of the device to releasably retain the device in the docking space, the retainer having a first surface fixed relative to the first end, and a second surface projecting away from the first end into the docking space, the second surface being deflectable relative to the first end on engagement with the end of the device, the second surface includes a resiliently deformable elastic or elastomeric material, which includes a nitrile, and resilient deformation of the material allows the second surface to be deflectable relative to the first end.

An aerosol generating system includes a holder including: a heater configured to heat an aerosol generating article; a holder battery configured to supply electric power to the heater; and a holder processor configured to measure a remaining charge value of the holder battery; and a cradle detachably coupled to the holder and including: a cradle battery having a greater battery capacity than the holder battery; and a cradle processor configured to: identify whether the holder is coupled to the cradle, receive a remaining charge value of the holder battery from the holder processor based on the holder being coupled to the cradle, and control the cradle battery to supply electric power to the heater based on the received remaining charge value being greater than or equal to a preset reference value.

A heat not burn electronic cigarette device may include a mouthpiece, an air tube, a heating component, a cigarette, a controller and a charger. The air tube is coupled to the mouthpiece and the heating component is coupled to the air tube. The cigarette is inserted to the heating component from an end of the heating component which is far from the mouthpiece and the heating component is coupled to the controller, and the charger is coupled to the controller. The heat not burn electronic cigarette is charged by a power bank via coupling the at least one contact to the power bank.

A heat not burn electronic cigarette device may include a mouthpiece, an air tube, a heating component, a cigarette, a controller and a charger. The air tube is coupled to the mouthpiece and the heating component is coupled to the air tube. The cigarette is inserted to the heating component from an end of the heating component which is far from the mouthpiece and the heating component is coupled to the controller, and the charger is coupled to the controller. The heat not burn electronic cigarette is charged by a power bank via coupling the at least one contact to the power bank.
