An individual who has had a limb amputation and wears a prosthetic limb on an amputated residual limb may have a difficult time adjusting the prosthetic limb discreetly in a public setting. Described herein are articles of clothing, access opening systems, clothing cuffs, or devices for securing a prosthetic limb to a residual limb fitted with the prosthetic limb and for providing access to the prosthetic limb discreetly without removing a substantial portion of the clothing.

The housing is secured in a placket to be affixed to a garment upper layer. A second magnetic member is placed in an interior enclosure of a lower front layer. A button or other component is secured to the exterior side of the upper front layer to provide the appearance of a buttoned placket. To close the garment, the first magnetic member is brought in proximity to the second magnetic member. The placket may be constructed as a separate unit and attached to the garment in a separate operation, allowing construction of the placket without manipulating the entire garment. Cuffs are prepared in a manner similar to the placket.

The female portion attaches to the preexisting button of the article of clothing, and the male portion is inserted into the preexisting button hole of the article of clothing. The male portion is magnetic, while the female portion is magnetic attractive, and being so, a location position of the male portion and the female portion are selective for allowing a user to merely put the male portion and the female portion together in a comfortable location by virtue of the female portion being magnetically attractive to the male portion being magnetic.
