ROOF AIRBAG FOR A VEHICLE

A roof airbag for a vehicle longitudinally extends along a length between first and second longitudinal ends and laterally extends along a width between first and second lateral sides. An inlet for receiving inflation gases is provided at the first longitudinal end. A plenum is in fluid communication with the inlet for receiving the inflation gases from the inlet. The roof airbag includes a plurality of primary inflatable chambers, each primary inflatable chamber in fluid communication with the plenum to receive inflation gases from the plenum. A plurality of secondary inflatable chambers is in indirect fluid communication with the plenum to receive inflation gases indirectly from the plenum through the plurality of primary inflatable chambers. The primary inflatable chambers of the plurality of primary inflatable chambers are arranged to first drive deployment of the airbag and subsequently inflate the second inflatable chambers of the plurality of second inflatable chambers to tension the airbag in the lateral direction. The primary and secondary inflatable chambers cooperate to provide a barrier between occupants of the vehicle and the roof frame.

A roof airbag for a vehicle. The roof airbag includes: a main cushion located at a roof panel of the vehicle and configured to be unfolded from a first side portion to a second side portion of the roof panel when being operated; a sub cushion coupled to a side surface of the extended main cushion and unfolded outside the main cushion; and an inflator located at the roof panel of the vehicle and connected to the main cushion or the sub cushion, and configured to inject gas into the main cushion and the sub cushion to unfold the main cushion and the sub cushion.

Airbag assemblies including airbag bodies having sewn portions and methods for forming same

An airbag assembly including an airbag body having a front side and an opposite rear side, a fold line provided on one of the front side and the rear side, the fold line configured to adjust a length of the one of the front side and the rear side such that a length of the rear side is greater than a length of the front side when the airbag body is in a deployed state, the fold line defining a lower boundary, and a sewn portion provided on an outer surface portion of the front side and an outer surface portion of the rear side. The sewn portion fixes an inner surface portion of the front side to an inner surface portion of the rear side at a location within a predetermined distance from the lower boundary.

Wrap-around airbag device

An airbag device for a vehicle including at least one airbag housing interface chamber that attaches to an airbag housing; at least one airbag cushion chamber downstream of the at least one interface chamber; an elbow that fluidly connects the housing interface chamber with the cushion chamber and configured so that it controllably regulates gas flow into the at least one airbag cushion chamber; the elbow having an internal configuration, which includes at least one opening that permits back and forth gas flow between the elbow and the at least one airbag cushion chamber, and which controls the directional deployment of the airbag cushion chamber so that upon deployment the downstream end of the cushion chamber exits an airbag housing outwardly in a first direction and then in at least one second direction, so that the direction of deployment of the cushion chamber changes in direction to thereby wrap at least partially around a structure of a vehicle of the vehicle and at least temporarily interpose the cushion chamber between any occupant and the vehicle structure.

Airbag device for a driver's seat

An airbag of an airbag device for a driver's seat includes an exhaust strap which includes a cover section that closes off an outer opening of a vent hole at airbag deployment and connecting bands extending from opposite sides of the cover section and joined to the center of a driver-side wall. When the driver-side wall of the airbag cushions the driver at airbag deployment and moves toward a vehicle-side wall, the connecting bands of the exhaust strap loosen and allow a distant edge region of the cover section to loosen and pass through the outer opening such that the outer opening and an inner opening communicate to open the vent hole. The cover section includes a reinforcing element that prevents the distant edge from slipping towards a proximate edge while allowing a bending deformation of the distant edge to pass through the outer opening and open the vent hole.

A side airbag device-installed vehicle seat including: an inner bag section that extends out from a side airbag main body, past a seat front of a side frame, and to a seat width direction inner side of the side frame, and that inflates within a side section of a seatback when an internal portion of the inner bag section in communication with an inside of the side airbag main body is supplied with gas from a gas generator; and a reaction force member including a fixing portion that is fixed to the side frame, and a reaction force application portion that is interposed between the inner bag section and the side frame at the seat width direction inner side of the side frame and that applies reaction force to the inner bag section during inflation, the inner bag section being anchored to the reaction force application portion.

LEG PROTECTION DEVICE FOR AN OCCUPANT PROTECTION SYSTEM OF A VEHICLE

The present disclosure relates to a leg protection device for an occupant protection system of a vehicle. The leg protection device includes an airbag module. The airbag module includes an airbag and a gas generator that inflates the airbag to a deployed state such that the airbag is disposed in the footwell and in front of a vehicle seat. The airbag includes a first chamber and a second chamber fluidically connected to the first chamber. The first chamber and the second chamber are deployed in the footwell to protect an occupant when the airbag is set in the deployed state. The first chamber is connected to the second chamber by a flexible connection region that diverts the airbag along the object in any spatial direction when the airbag encounters the object during deployment in the footwell.

An airbag module for protecting an occupant of a vehicle. The module includes an airbag formed by connected first and second panels, wherein the airbag includes first and second inflatable chambers. The module also includes an inflator for providing inflation gas for the airbag. The first and second inflatable chambers are fluidly connected by a gas flow passage. The first and second panels are connected together along a volume controlling seam located in the second chamber. The seam is configured to give way during inflation of the airbag to thereby allow the second chamber to completely inflate.

VEHICLE SEAT HAVING A SIDE AIRBAG DEVICE
