VEHICLE OCCUPANT PROTECTION DEVICE
A vehicle occupant protection device includes: an airbag structured as a single bag that is configured to cover a head area of a vehicle occupant, the airbag being stowed at a headrest or seatback of a vehicle seat, the airbag receiving a gas supply and inflating and expanding toward a seat front side, and the airbag including a front inflation portion that is configured to be inflated at the seat front relative to the head area and a left and right pair of side inflation portions that are connected to the front inflation portion and configured to be inflated at seat sides relative to the head area; and an opening portion that is provided at the airbag, is configured to cover the head area from the seat front side or a seat side, and is openable after the inflation and expansion of the airbag.
Passenger protection device of vehicle
A curtain airbag in a stored state is provided to extend in a vehicle longitudinal direction at an upper position of a border of a pillar trim and a top ceiling. A guide portion is provided at an upper portion of the pillar trim so as to guide the curtain airbag which is being inflated toward a vehicle compartment. The curtain airbag includes a patch portion as an inflation suppression portion at a position which overlaps with the guide portion when viewed from the inside of the vehicle compartment. The patch portion as the inflation suppression portion is configured to suppress inflation of part of the curtain airbag where the patch portion is provided.
ADAPTIVE, DEPLOYABLE RESTRAINT ELEMENT FOR A VEHICLE SAFETY SYSTEM, AIRBAG MODULE, AND VEHICLE SAFETY SYSTEM HAVING A RESTRAINT ELEMENT OF THIS TYPE, AND USE OF THE FIN RAY EFFECT IN AN ADAPTIVE RESTRAINT ELEMENT
An adaptive deployable restraint element (10) for a vehicle safety system comprising at least two leg elements (11, 12) at least in portions arranged in V-shape relative to each other between which at least one cross brace (13, 14, 15) connecting the leg elements (11, 12) is arranged, wherein the leg elements and/or the cross brace (13, 14, 15) are/is inflatable. The invention further relates to an airbag module and an occupant safety system comprising such restraint element as well as to the use of the fin ray effect in an adaptive restraint element.
AIRBAG DEVICE FOR FRONT PASSENGER SEAT
An airbag includes a main bag section and a center bag section deployable to protrude towards a vehicle interior out of an inboard side of the main bag section. An inboard-side member, which forms the inboard side of the main bag section, is composed of a front component and a rear component. The center bag section includes a front wall and a rear wall. The front wall is composed of a rear extended region of the front component which is disposed in such a manner as to protrude rearward out of the rear edge of the front component. The rear wall is composed of a front extended region of the rear component which protrudes forward out of the front edge of the rear component and has a generally identical outer contour to the rear extended region. The center bag section is formed by jointing outer edges of the front and rear extended regions.
HEAD-PROTECTING AIRBAG DEVICE
A head-protecting airbag device includes: an airbag body; and a connecting piece which is formed of a sheet material with flexibility, wherein: the airbag body and the connecting piece constitute an airbag having a bag shape inflatable to cover an inboard side of a window of a vehicle; the airbag body includes an inboard side wall disposed on the inboard side at the time of inflation completion, an outboard side wall disposed on an outboard side, and a coupling target portion coupling the connecting piece; the coupling target portion is configured to be divided into an inboard side portion and an outboard side portion; and the root end of the connecting piece is nipped between the inboard side portion and the outboard side portion, and is coupled with the inboard side portion and the outboard side portion so as to be connected with the airbag body.
NON-COATED BASE FABRIC FOR AIRBAG, AIRBAG, AND MANUFACTURING METHOD OF NON-COATED BASE FABRIC FOR AIRBAG
A non-coated base fabric for an airbag is made of a polyamide fiber, wherein a CV value of the dynamic air permeability by the ASTM D6476 method is 6.0% or less, a CV value of the air permeability at a differential pressure of 500 Pa by the ASTM D3886 method is 10.0% or less, and a CV value of the air permeability at a differential pressure of 20 KPa is 10.0% or less, which are measured every 20 cm in a weft direction of the base fabric.
AIRBAG FABRIC INCLUDING APERTURES AND METHODS OF FORMING THE SAME
Fabrics for inflatable airbags including one or more aperture sections are disclosed. The aperture sections can be formed in woven fabric panels of the inflatable airbags. Methods of weaving fabric panels including aperture sections for inflatable airbags are also disclosed. The aperture sections may define vents, or the aperture sections may receive a portion of an inflator, a lead wire, and/or a mounting hardware component.
SIDE AIRBAG APPARATUS
A side airbag apparatus includes an inflator, an airbag body that is configured to be deployed and inflated by inflation gas supplied from the inflator, and an inflated-dimension limiter arranged inside the airbag body. The inflated-dimension limiter is joined to the airbag body by a front joint portion provided at the front end of the inflated-dimension limiter. The inflated-dimension limiter is also joined, by a rear joint portion provided at the rear end of the inflated-dimension limiter, to a portion of the airbag body that is behind a section of the airbag body to which the inflated-dimension limiter is joined by the front joint portion. The dimension between the uppermost end and the lowermost end of the front joint portion is set to be different from the dimension between the uppermost end and the lowermost end of the rear joint portion.
Air-bag fabrics
A fabric for a seam region of an inflatable air-bag includes fibers formed from polyester and having an elongation at break of around 12% to 20%. The fabric also has an instantaneous thermal creep above 0.5% at 100° C.
SIDE AIRBAG DEVICE-INSTALLED VEHICLE SEAT
A side airbag device-installed vehicle seat including: an inner bag section that extends out from a side airbag main body, past a seat front of a side frame, and to a seat width direction inner side of the side frame, and that inflates within a side section of a seatback when an internal portion of the inner bag section in communication with an inside of the side airbag main body is supplied with gas from a gas generator; and a reaction force member including a fixing portion that is fixed to the side frame, and a reaction force application portion that is interposed between the inner bag section and the side frame at the seat width direction inner side of the side frame and that applies reaction force to the inner bag section during inflation, the inner bag section being anchored to the reaction force application portion.
