A seat belt apparatus includes webbing, a tubular webbing guide through which the webbing is movably inserted in an insertion direction, an inflatable airbag disposed along an outer side of the webbing guide, and a bag cover configured to cover the airbag, wherein the bag cover includes a first cover end in the insertion direction and a second cover end on an opposite side of the first cover end in the insertion direction, and the webbing guide includes a first guide end alongside the first cover end, a second guide end alongside the second cover end, and a peripheral wall continuously extending between the first guide end and the second guide end so as to form a space between the peripheral wall and the webbing.

Vehicle occupant restraint device

A vehicle occupant restraint device includes an airbag that is provided in a shoulder belt position of a seat belt while being folded in a belt-like shape to be capable of inflating upon receiving a predetermined actuating signal, and the seat belt is wound by a single winding device. The airbag is folded to surround a slide guide including a hard member having seat-belt passing portions arranged at predetermined intervals in an insertion direction of webbing and a soft member supporting the hard member. The airbag smoothly slides along the webbing through the slide guide when the seat belt is pulled out.

ACTIVE BOLSTER

An active bolster for a vehicle is provided, wherein the bolster comprises an expansible hollow interior that is inflatable and is self-supporting in both an inflated and in an uninflated position. The bolster has an inflator module for inflating the expansible hollow interior. The bolster has an inner wall for projecting inwardly into the vehicle and away from the side of the vehicle on inflation of the expansible hollow interior. The bolster may have a relatively non-expansible component located between a first expansible chamber and a second expansible chamber. The bolster may comprise an outer wall having an attachment portion for attaching the outer wall to a portion of the side of the vehicle.

OCCUPANT PROTECTION DEVICE

A side airbag deployment direction control structure includes an airbag module installed at the vehicle width direction outer side of a door-side side frame portion. During inflation and deployment of a side airbag of airbag module, a stitched portion between a front cover and a front side cover of a seat cover ruptures under inflation pressure of the side airbag. This forms an opening for the side airbag to inflate and deploy to the outer side of a seatback. Note that the stitched portion is provided further to the seat width direction inner side than a center of the inflator. Further, a reaction force plate is positioned at the vehicle width direction outer side of the airbag module and includes a side reaction force face of which a front end portion extends further toward the vehicle front side than the airbag module and the door-side side frame portion.
