SEMI-RIGID DEPLOYABLE SHOULDER AND PELVIS RESTRAINT SYSTEM
The present disclosure is directed to passenger restraint system, deployable upon detection of an imminent side impact vehicle collision. The restraint system contains both an inner inflatable portion and an outer rigid telescopic portion, resulting in a semi-rigid restraint system. The restraint system may be mounted to the outboard and/or inboard sides of a vehicle seat, to protect the passenger from forces from an intruding door structure (or vehicle structure) or from other passengers. Mounting the restraint system to the vehicle seat may limit the force load that is transferred from the vehicle to the occupant, compared to a restraint system mounted to the vehicle interior.
Vehicle airbag system
An airbag system includes a first seat including a seat bottom. The airbag system includes an instrument panel. The airbag system includes a first airbag supported by the seat bottom and inflatable to an inflated position. The airbag system includes a pair of front airbags supported by the instrument panel and inflatable to inflated positions. The first airbag in the inflated position extends from the first seat to between the pair of front airbags in the inflated positions.
Side airbag with necking chamber
A side airbag for a vehicle includes a main chamber and a necking chamber. The main chamber has an opening for connecting to an inflator and a first thickness in an inflated condition. The necking chamber is peripherally surrounded by the main chamber and is connected to the main chamber by a restrictive vent. The necking chamber has a second thickness in the inflated condition less than the first thickness and is aligned with a targeted body area.
Airbag made from a fabric substrate coated on an exterior side and on an opposite interior side
A dual coated fabric that is well suited for producing vehicle airbags. The coated fabric includes a first coating on one side and a second coating on a second and opposite side. The first coating may comprise an elastomeric coating, such as a cured rubber. The second coating on the opposite side, however, may comprise a non-elastomeric coating. The non-elastomeric coating provides dimensional stability and provides an excellent counterbalance to the elastomeric coating.
Method of manufacturing a composite skin-foam-carrier component for a motor vehicle and composite skin-foam-carrier component for a motor vehicle
The present disclosure relates to a method of producing a composite skin-foam-carrier component for a motor vehicle, including the steps of injection-molding a carrier having one or more airbag flaps delimited by a hinge area and by a predefined tear line, wherein a raised contour with a groove-shaped cross-section is created along a segment of the tear line, producing a foam layer between a skin and the injection-molded carrier, producing gaps in the raised contour by guiding a tool over the raised contour after the production of the foam layer, and removing a portion of the raised contour. The present disclosure also relates to a composite skin-foam-carrier component for a motor vehicle.
Shock-Absorbing Device, particularly for Vehicles
A shock-absorbing device for vehicles includes a supporting bar, and a gas generator and an airbag arranged on the supporting bar. The airbag includes an inflatable body with a first laminated foil wrapped longitudinally around the inflatable body and a second laminated foil wrapped transversely around the inflatable body. The first and second laminated foils are initially wrapped around the inflatable body in a temporary inflated state of the inflatable body so as to have a length in the respective longitudinal and transverse directions corresponding to the inflatable body in an activated state of the shock-absorbing device.

Airbag safety system for a two-wheeled vehicle
An airbag safety system is provided with two or more safety airbags which can be adjoined to protect the rider when a crash occurs. A stabilizing mechanism is used to cause the inflated airbags to adjoin each other so as to form a stable protection space between the vehicle and the adjoined airbags. The adjoined airbags are shaped to meet a rider's ergonomics, making sure the rider can be caped for head protection and can be protected within the space surrounded by the airbags from being thrown away off the vehicle and subject to serious injuries.
