Safety airbag
A safety airbag, including: an air bag, having an inflated and stowed state; and a gas generator, used to inflate the air bag to the inflated state, wherein the air bag includes a body portion and a cut-out portion, the cut-out portion being formed as being cut out from the air bag, but still remaining integral with the body portion, and in the inflated state, the cut-out portion being oriented in a predetermined direction relative to the body portion via an orienting member. Using the cut-out portion to provide protection for the head of an occupant increases the utilization rate of a material for making an air bag. In addition, the height of the airbag curtain is relatively large only at the cut-out portion, and is relatively small at the remaining positions, thereby reducing the volume of the air bag.
AUTOMOTIVE PROTECTIVE DEVICE TRACKING
An automotive protective device that can be configured to be mounted to a vehicle to provide protection to an occupant of a vehicle during a collision event. The automotive protective device may include a textile component formed of a textile and including an RFID chip, wherein the textile component is associated with an identifier of the RFID chip, and a non-textile component coupled to the textile component and associated with the identifier of the RFID chip, wherein the non-textile is associated with the identifier of the RFID chip at an assembly time when the non-textile component is coupled to the textile component.
VEHICLE OCCUPANT RESTRAINT DEVICE
A vehicle occupant restraint device (10) comprises a pre-assembled head side airbag module (12) installed in a backrest (14) of a vehicle seat (16) and including an airbag (28) which deploys between two places adjacent transversely to the longitudinal vehicle direction and reduces lateral oscillation of a vehicle occupant toward an adjacent vehicle seat and, resp., vehicle occupant. The head side airbag module (12) comprises a module housing (32) surrounding the airbag (28) at least partially in the installed condition which includes a guiding portion (34) extending on the side of the airbag (28) and exerting a force (F) upon the deploying airbag (28) so that during deployment the latter is pressed in the direction of the vehicle occupant to be restrained.
AIRBAG TETHER RELEASE
An airbag system includes an airbag. The airbag system includes a base defining a track extending from a first end to a second end. The airbag system includes a carrier releasably fixed to the base and removable from the base at the second end. The airbag system includes a tether extending from the carrier and secured to the airbag. The airbag system includes a spring disposed at the first end. The spring is disposed between the carrier and the base. Upon application of a force to the carrier, e.g., via the tether when the airbag is inflated, the carrier is released from the base and compresses the spring. Upon removal of the force, the spring urges the carrier toward the second end where the carrier is ejected.
VEHICLE AIRBAG SYSTEM
An airbag system includes a first seat including a seat bottom. The airbag system includes an instrument panel. The airbag system includes a first airbag supported by the seat bottom and inflatable to an inflated position. The airbag system includes a pair of front airbags supported by the instrument panel and inflatable to inflated positions. The first airbag in the inflated position extends from the first seat to between the pair of front airbags in the inflated positions.
AIR BAG ARRANGEMENT FOR A VEHICLE-OCCUPANT-RESTRAINING SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR PRODUCING AN AIRBAG ARRANGEMENT
The invention relates to an airbag arrangement for a vehicle-occupant-restraining system, having an airbag (2), wherein at least one airbag layer (21, 22) delimits an inflatable volume (200) of the airbag (2); and at least one fastening tab (3), which is connected to the airbag layer (21, 22) and is intended for fastening the airbag (2) on a vehicle component. According to the invention, the entire fastening tab (3) is formed from a different material to that of the airbag layer (21, 22).
The invention also relates to a method for producing an airbag arrangement for a vehicle-occupant-restraining system.
Multilayer films for airbag applications and related methods
A multilayer film is provided that includes a) a barrier layer including a thermoplastic polyester elastomer or a polyamide copolymer; b) an intermediate layer provided on the barrier layer and including a maleic anhydride (MAH)-grafted polyolefin and an ?-olefin copolymer; and c) an adhesive layer provided on the intermediate layer and including a thermoplastic polyester elastomer or a polyamide copolymer. The multilayer film enables production of gas-tight multilayer laminates which exhibit an excellent peel resistance combined with a low weight and/or thickness. Further, a multilayer laminate and an inflatable airbag that include a fabric layer adhered to the multilayer film, as well as methods of manufacturing are described.
LOW PERMEABILITY AND HIGH STRENGTH FABRIC AND METHODS OF MAKING THE SAME
An uncoated woven fabric of yarn formed from synthetic fibers woven in the warp direction and weft direction to form a top surface and a bottom surface wherein at least a portion of the yarn on the top surface or at least a portion of the yarn on the bottom surface has fibers with a permanently modified cross-section and that are fused together is provided. Methods for production and use of this fabric in application to products such as automobile airbags, sailcloths, inflatable slides, temporary shelters, tents, ducts, coverings and printed media are also provided.
Restraint system
A restraint system includes a side air curtain, a sail panel, and a secondary cushion. The side air curtain is inflatable to an inflated position and has a top edge, a bottom edge, and a forward edge extending from the top edge to the bottom edge. The sail panel extends from the forward edge. The secondary cushion is inflatable to an inflated position and is elongated in a direction away from the bottom edge and the forward edge toward the top edge.
Air-bags
An air-bag for a motor vehicle is formed from first and second superposed layers of fabric, each woven from a plurality of yarns. The layers of fabric are connected to each other at least partially through interweaving of the yarns of the two layers with each other. The air-bag includes at least one inflatable region, in which the two layers of fabric are substantially not connected to each other, and at least one non-inflatable region. There is a first number of crossing points of yarns that form the one layer of fabric, and there is a second number of connections between the two layers, wherein at each connection a yarn of the layer of fabric extends across to the other layer and passes over the far side of the a yarn of the other layer, and wherein the second number is no more than 0.0033 times the first number.
