SAFETY AIRBAG
20240042957 · 2024-02-08 ·

A safety airbag, including: an air bag, having an inflated and stowed state; and a gas generator, used to inflate the air bag to the inflated state, wherein the air bag includes a body portion and a cut-out portion, the cut-out portion being formed as being cut out from the air bag, but still remaining integral with the body portion, and in the inflated state, the cut-out portion being oriented in a predetermined direction relative to the body portion via an orienting member. Using the cut-out portion to provide protection for the head of an occupant increases the utilization rate of a material for making an air bag. In addition, the height of the airbag curtain is relatively large only at the cut-out portion, and is relatively small at the remaining positions, thereby reducing the volume of the air bag.

One-piece woven occupant restraint system

A method for manufacturing a one-piece woven (OPW) air bag includes method for manufacturing an OPW airbag. The method includes providing yarns, warping the yarns on at least one beam of a loom, and simultaneously weaving yarns into a fabric air bag structure having two layer portions defining an inflatable volume and single layer portions forming seams delimiting the inflatable volume. A plurality of the yarns overlay one another to form nonwoven alignment elements in at least one of the single layer portions. The air bag structure is cut to define the OPW air bag. The alignment elements are aligned with alignment elements on a panel. The air bag structure is sewn to the panel with the alignment elements aligned with one another.

Head-protecting airbag device

A head-protecting airbag device includes an airbag including a bag body and a cover sheet, the bag body including a gas inflow portion. The gas inflow portion includes a gas supply passage portion and a shielding inflatable portion, the gas supply passage portion being located in an upper edge side of the bag body and configured such that an inflation gas initially flows through the gas supply passage portion, and the shielding inflatable portion being disposed below the gas supply passage portion and configured to be inflated to shield the window. The cover sheet is attached to the bag body such that the shielding inflatable portion, rather than the gas supply passage portion, is a protected area, by providing a non-covered area in an upper edge side of the gas inflow portion, the non-covered area being an area in which the cover sheet is not disposed.

Method of making a flame resistant airbag suitable for use in aviation applications

A method of making a flame resistant airbag suitable for use in aviation applications is discussed. A flame resistant fabric for the use in the construction of aviation airbags is woven from a high tenacity continuous polyester fiber substrate. A polyurethane coating is applied to the woven fabric, which has been treated with a flame retardant, to impart high pressure permeability resistance to the flame resistant fabric. The resulting fabric complies with Federal Aviation Requirement 25.853 as well as exhibits sufficient high pressure permeability resistance which is measured as a pressure of not less than about 198 kPa after five seconds from an initial inflation and pressurization to about 200 kPa, such as may be encountered in and during an inflation of aviation airbag assemblies.

AIRBAG AND METHOD OF PRODUCING WEAVING PATTERN FOR THE SAME

An airbag includes a bag portion and a plain cloth portion. The bag portion is woven by double weave. The plain cloth portion is woven by plain weave at an edge of the bag portion. The bag portion and the plain cloth portion include warp threads and filling threads. The bag portion and the plain cloth portion are woven by a one piece woven method to satisfy: (1) each warp thread is not over four consecutive filling threads and each filling thread is not over four consecutive warp threads around a border between the bag portion and the plain cloth portion; and (2) every two adjacent warp threads are not over two adjacent filling threads and every two adjacent filling threads are not over two adjacent warp threads around the border.

Vehicle airbag system

An airbag system includes a first seat including a seat bottom. The airbag system includes an instrument panel. The airbag system includes a first airbag supported by the seat bottom and inflatable to an inflated position. The airbag system includes a pair of front airbags supported by the instrument panel and inflatable to inflated positions. The first airbag in the inflated position extends from the first seat to between the pair of front airbags in the inflated positions.

AIRBAG DEVICE AND PASSENGER PROTECTING DEVICE

An airbag device has an airbag. The airbag has a front-rear chamber and an airbag main body. The front-rear chamber has a left and right pair of front-rear extending portions that pass by respective left and right sides of a head of a passenger seated in a vehicle seat and inflate and deploy toward the seat front side, and a connecting portion connecting front end portions of the pair of front-rear extending portions in a seat left-right direction. The airbag main body inflates and deploys toward a side of the passenger at a seat rear side of the connecting portion, later than the front-rear chamber. At a time when the passenger is restrained, the airbag main body is compressed in a seat front-rear direction while stretching the front-rear chamber in the seat front-rear direction.

STITCHING FOR A PROTECTION DEVICE

In one example, an apparatus for helping to protect an occupant of a vehicle includes an inflatable vehicle occupant protection device having a deflated condition and an inflated condition. The protection device includes a first panel having a centerline and first and second openings. A second panel is secured to the first panel to define an inflatable volume. First and second self-adaptive vents are secured to the first panel over the first and second openings on opposite sides of the centerline for selectively releasing inflation fluid from the inflatable volume in response to penetration of the occupant into the protection device. A first reinforcing stitching extends through the first panel and around a portion of the first self-adaptive vent. A second reinforcing stitching extends through the first panel and around a portion of the second self-adaptive vent. Each of the first and second reinforcing stitchings is spaced entirely from the respective first and second self-adaptive vents.

Air-bag

Provided is an air-bag capable of further reducing damage value to a passenger and limiting the amount of use of inflator gas by limiting an excessive increase in the internal pressure of the air-bag upon contacting the passenger while increasing the speed of deployment in a passenger protection area. The air-bag includes a main chamber and a sub-chamber that are connected via a communication portion, wherein the communication portion or a region adjacent to the communication portion is configured of a multilayer structure portion comprising three or more layers.
