An airbag includes a bag body that includes a first panel and a second panel which are opposed to each other, a partitioning tether that is disposed in such a manner as to partition an interior of the bag body, a communication hole that is formed in the tether for providing gas communication in the interior of the bag body, and first and second joints that respectively join first and second edges of the tether to the first and second panels of the bag body. The communication hole has a generally rectangular contour which has two corners in a vicinity of each of the first and second edges of the tether. In both of the first and second edges of the tether, the corners of the communication hole are disposed closer to the first or second edge of the partitioning tether than a corresponding one of the joints.

An inflatable vehicle occupant protection device (14b) includes a front panel (102b) and a rear panel (122b) that are interconnected to at least partially define an inflatable volume (54b) of the protection device. The rear panel (122b) has a conical configuration resulting from portions of the rear panel being interconnected with each other. The rear panel (122b) comprises portions interconnected along a seam (214), the seam being configured to deviate laterally from a deployment direction so that portions of the air bag that engage and move along the seam shift laterally during deployment to reduce damage due to friction with the seam

MOUNTING TAB ASSEMBLIES FOR SECURING AN AIRBAG TO A VEHICLE

Tabs for coupling or securing an airbag to a vehicle are provided. A tab may include a first panel and a second panel that meet at a foldable portion. First and second arms may extend away from a central portion of the first panel in substantially opposite directions. First and second recesses may extend inward from first and second lateral edges, respectively, of the second panel. The tab may be configured to be folded to form a bracket receiving member. The bracket receiving member may be configured to be disposed through an aperture of a bracket to secure the tab to the vehicle. Additionally, the first and second panels of the tab may be configured to be secured to an airbag to secure the airbag to the vehicle via the tab and the bracket.

An airbag (10) comprises a plurality of interconnected adjacent inflatable cells, wherein a cell is attached to an adjacent cell by at least two seam lines (31, 32), said lines being spaced from each other to define a cell area, which is comprising a gas passage portion (1c, 2c, 3c, 4c) between said adjacent cells.

Airbag sewing structure

A first panel 12 includes: a fold-back part 12c formed by folding back the first panel along an edge part 12a of the first panel; and a seam allowance part 12d laid on top of the fold-back part 12c, the second panel 13 is sewed to the first panel with a first chain stitch 17 while being laid on top of the fold-back part 12c, and a chain part 17a of the first chain stitch 17 is located between the fold-back part 12c and the seam allowance part 12d. Thus, because the chain part 17a of the first chain stitch 17 is covered by the seam allowance part 12d of the first panel 12, the chain part 17a of the first chain stitch 17 is prevented from rubbing against other members during deployment of the airbag 11, whereby the reliability of a sewing section 14 can be enhanced.

VEHICLE AIRBAG

An assembly includes a seatback. The assembly includes a side airbag supported by the seatback and inflatable to an inflated position including a top panel having a pair of opposing side edges and a front edge extending between the side edges. The side airbag includes a main panel fixed to the top panel at a seam extending along the side edges and the front edge.

The present invention is a side airbag device stowed in a seatback of a vehicle seat, comprising: an inflator arranged on the occupant side of a side frame which is positioned on a side part inside the seatback, that generates expansion gas, and an airbag which expands due to said expansion gas and protects the occupant seated in the vehicle seat. The airbag includes a main chamber that deploys toward the front of the seatback, and a pre-chamber that houses the inflator inside and is connected to the occupant side of the main chamber. Furthermore, an integral joint without gaps is formed by sewing between at least the front edge part of the pre-chamber and the main chamber.

An airbag includes a main inflatable section which includes a front-collision arresting face at the rear plane as deployed, a protruding inflatable section which includes an oblique-collision arresting face, and an arresting recess formed between the front-collision arresting face and oblique-collision arresting face. An outer tether is disposed on the outside of the airbag for preventing the protruding inflatable section from moving away from the main inflatable section at airbag deployment. The outer tether includes a side edge disposed towards the protruding inflatable section and a front edge disposed towards the main inflatable section. The side edge is jointed to an upper edge of the oblique-collision arresting face by a side joint which is formed over a generally entire area in a front and rear direction of the protruding inflatable section. The front edge is jointed to an upper edge of the front-collision arresting face by a front joint.
