A combined lid and strainer device for a paint container features an outer mounting rim configured for mated fitting onto a rim of the paint container. Within a central circular area surrounded by the rim, there is a perforated a straining area through which paint is pourable. A movable cover is selectively movable between a closed position overlying the perforated straining area, and open positions withdrawn therefrom to allow strained pouring of the paint therethrough. Raised features on the cover are used to secure the cover closed when the lidded container is placed in a paint shaker. A sealing membrane is used, at least initially, seal the perforated area in air-tight fashion to maintain paint freshness. Securement features are usable to secure the flap in both closed and open positions.

In some embodiments, apparatuses and methods provided herein are useful for dispensing a fluid, such as a thixotropic fluid. In some embodiments, a bottle having a closure cap includes a flip top, a base, and a disk, where the base and disk define a mixing chamber configured to facilitate mixing of any serum or liquid separated from the fluid back therein. In some configurations, the base has a central opening through which the fluid exits and an internal shaft with a non-planar end surface opposite the central opening. In some configurations, the non-planar end surface and the disk define channels between the mixing chamber and the internal shaft. In some embodiments, the disk includes a central opening, a plurality of partial annular openings through a planar surface of the disk, and projections extending into the mixing chamber.

A closure (10) of the flip-top type, and a closure combined with a bottle or other container The closure comprises a cap base (12) which can be releasably fastened to a package (74), the cap base including an opening. A closing flap (16) is movably attached to the cap base and is suitable, when it is in a closed position, for preventing egress of a liquid from the package through the pot cap base opening. The closing flap has a locking flap extending therefrom, and movably attached to the closing flap. A locking flap fastener (70) is provided for releasably securing the locking flap to the cap base or to the package to prevent inadvertent opening of the closure during transport and use by the consumer. The locking flap (38) may be tucked within the closing flap during normal use and used to lock the closing flap during transport. The locking flap may be disposed in a recess (20) in the cap base.

A closure (10), especially useful for e-commerce. The closure comprises a lid (16) and a cap base (12) which can be releasably fastened to a container, the cap base including an opening (24). The lid has a depending plug (26) extending therefrom which is received within the opening in the cap base when the lid is in the closed position. The opening is formed within a cylindrical opening wall (88). When the lid is in its open position, extending outwardly from the depending plug at its end distal from the lid are one or more barb flaps (82). As the lid is moved to its closed position with the depending plug within the cylindrical opening wall, the barbs are pushed up against the walls of the plug and are received within a recess in the cylindric opening wall. Within the recess, the bar flaps abut an upper wall of the recess (40) such that extra force is required to open the lid, e.g., during shipping. When the consumer wishes to open the lid, he or she exerts the extra force needed to force the lid open, which causes the barb flaps to assume their original positions extending outwardly from the cylindrical plug.

A closure for a container has a base and a lid. The base is attachable to the container. The lid is pivotally connected to the base and moveable between open and closed positions. The lid or the base has operating tabs on its periphery. Each operating tab has an actuation portion and an engagement portion. The engagement portion is moveable between engagement and disengagement positions. When the lid is in the closed positioned, the engagement portion engages the other of the lid and the base in the engagement position and disengages from the other of the lid and the base in the disengagement position. The actuation portion of the operating tab is resiliently deflectable radially outward relative to the one of the lid and the base to move the engagement portion to the disengagement position whereupon release of the actuation portion, the engagement portion returns to the engagement position.
