Container and closure assembly
A closure is provided for a container having a body defining an opening and a chime around the opening extending radially outward from the container body. The closure includes a top panel having a periphery and a continuous circumferential skirt extending from the periphery and configured to define a gap between the skirt and the chime. The closure further includes a pair of latch elements defined in diametrically opposite portions of the skirt, each latch element including a lug projecting radially inward from the skirt to engage the under surface of the chime. The skirt is continuous across the pair of latch elements and is flexible so that pulling one of the portions of the skirt away from the container disengages the lug from the under surface of the chime and generate a hoop tension that reduces the gap at portions of the skirt adjacent the other latch element.
Lid featuring improved splash and spill resistance and ease of flow
A lid for a drinking cup enables drinking while inhibiting splashing and spilling. The lid features a drinking spout having an outer wall, an inner wall and a top wall. A dispensing well formed in the spout includes a bottom wall, two end walls, and at least two opposed sidewall openings. Nearly all vertical beverage splashes impinge upon the underside of the bottom wall, while the opposed openings allow splashes entering the dispensing well to be drained through the opposite opening. A plurality of vent holes can be provided to allow air to enter the cup as beverage is consumed. Vent holes near the dispensing well can be blocked during drinking, when the cup is full and the beverage is hot, but unblocked as the beverage cools and is consumed. Interior baffle walls around the dispensing well can inhibit swirling or laterally-splashing beverage from entering the dispensing well.
Cup lid manufacturing process
A substantially crimpless and monolithic paperboard container lid and method of making same is provided. The lid comprises a single contiguous molded paperboard body configured to conformingly couple to a top periphery of a container for covering the container's opening. The body includes a sealing ring located adjacent the body's periphery. The sealing ring includes a sealing channel composed of a radiused cross-section that extends to a tangent ring terminating with a tab ring. The radiused cross-section and tangent ring assist providing a snug fit between the lid and the container. Despite being made from paperboard, the lid does not include one or more substantial crimps in the sealing ring. Having no substantial crimps, the lid fits onto the container and prevents fluid from leaking between the container's periphery and the lid.
Spill resistant cup lid
Disclosed is a lid for containers including one or more liquids. The lid is configured to provide the user with both protection from spillage, and a natural drinking experience. The structural features of the lid include a rim, a top surface, and a reservoir. The reservoir includes one or more drink inlets positioned on a lower wall portion configured to allow the one or more liquids from the container to pass through when the lid is in a drinking position, and to drain the one or more liquids from the lid to the container when the lid is not in a drinking position.
Spill preventing container lid
A spill-preventing lid for a container comprises a lid body having a top, a bottom, a peripheral flange and a drink opening through the body from the bottom to the top, and a spill-preventing baffle, the baffle comprising a wall extending downwardly from the bottom of the lid body, the baffle having a top and a bottom, the top of the baffle communicating with the drink opening, at least one opening in the bottom, and a passage leading from the at least one opening in the bottom to the top, allowing liquid to flow from the container into the baffle, though the passaged defined by the baffle and to the drink opening, the at least one opening in the bottom being substantially smaller in dimension than the dimension of the drink opening.
Beverage container lid
A beverage container lid for dispersing heat includes a cover portion having an inlet opening and forming a dispensing spout. The dispensing spout has one or more dispensing sides that rise upwardly from the cover and form a mixing chamber with a dispensing opening and fluidly connected to the inlet opening. The dispensing sides have one or more side perforations for allowing air to enter the mixing chamber. At least some of the beverage contained in an interior chamber of a cup is drawn into the inlet opening, mixed with air in the mixing chamber, and dispensed by the dispensing opening such that the at least some of the beverage has a lower temperature than the beverage contained in the interior chamber of the cup.
Container closure
An improved container closure is provided, and a manufacturing process therefor.
Drink-Through Reclosable Spill Resistant Beverage Cup Lid With Vent Structure
A drink-through lid for a beverage container. The lid provides a drink outlet that allows liquid to fill a drink well base, from which a consumer may sip a beverage similar to using an open top cup or mug. The lid is provided with a flexible structure which may be reversibly positionable between a drink outlet closed position and a drink outlet open position. In an embodiment, an outer or distal end of the flexible structure may be moved to a spill resistant position, wherein the outer end of the flexible structure substantially prevents splash of liquid outward from the beverage container thought the drink outlet, even when the flexible structure is in the open position. The flexible structure may include multiple panels and hinges which allow downward and upward movement by manual manipulation, to enable a user to open and close the drink outlet.
CONTAINER HAVING METAL LID AND BOTTOM CONNECTED WITH PLASTIC CONNECTION RING
A container including a container lid and a container bottom is provided. The container lid is a composite structure including a lid component and a connection ring connected to the lid component. The connection ring connects to the container bottom. The lid component may be a metal component.
CONTAINER LID ASSEMBLY AND INSERT CONSTRUCTIONS
A beverage container lid assembly and insert enable a user to selectively control contained beverage movements when outfitted upon a beverage container. The lid assemblies include a primary lid form having a primary beverage outlet and a circular transverse cross-section and a secondary lid attachment cooperably engaged with the primary lid form for providing certain beverage flow diversion structure. The secondary lid attachment is rotatable relative to the primary lid form about a lid axis of rotation. The lid assembly may be attached to a beverage container such that the user may manually rotate the secondary lid attachment relative to the primary lid form for manually and selectively positioning the beverage flow diversion structure relative to the primary beverage outlet. The container insert includes a container-engaging first portion and a beverage-damping second portion. The second portion extends inwardly relative to the first portion for deflecting upwardly directed beverage.
