Push through blister package with plastic lidding

Provided is a single material plastic push-through blister pack for food and pharmaceutical packaging and a method of making thereof. The blister package may be produced by thermoforming polymer films for the cavity and a cavitated polymer film made from the same class of polymer comparatively lower thickness for the substrate or lid. To facilitate the push through breaking, the polymer film used as the lidding film may be modified to a microcavitated film by creating micro-voids/cavities and micro-brittleness within the polymer matrix. These micro-voids/cavities, and/or embedded microcrystalline particles present in the polymer matrix of the lidding film, may create internal cracks in the film by application of a small external force, which may then result in rupturing of the lid film to dispense a product from the cavity of the blister pack.

Blister pack and blister pack holder

A blister pack may include a containing body with an opening; and a lid sealed over the opening and provided with a weakening pattern, wherein a width of the lid at the weakening pattern is thinner that a width of the lid elsewhere, and wherein the lid is configured to burst at the weakening pattern when the blister pack is subjected to pressure, so as to allow liquid content inside the containing body to be discharged out of the blister pack through the burst weakening pattern. A blister pack holder is also disclosed.

A flexible pouch for holding a fluid includes a front and rear side that together define a compartment, a rim, and a spout. The compartment is for holding a fluid and has a longitudinal axis that extends through the long axis of the compartment and a transverse axis that is perpendicular to the longitudinal axis. The rim is provided around the compartment and is formed by coupling the front and rear sides together. The spout is positioned at a top end of the pouch. The spout has a notch defined in the top end thereof and has a convex shape on a top cut edge thereof. The rim has a bottom cut edge that has a continuously concave shape from one side of the pouch to the other side of the pouch.

An improved notch-forming tab enables a blister card package comprising a medicament to be easily opened by a user. The blister card package includes a container sheet having a well formed therein; a cover sheet laminated to the container sheet and spanning the well to form a blister containing the medicament between the cover sheet and the container sheet; and a plurality of slits defining a pattern comprising a pair of legs having respective converging and diverging ends disposed adjacent the blister. The converging ends of the pair of legs are separated from one another by between about 0.1 mm and about 1 mm and are spaced from the blister. The diverging ends of the pair of legs are spaced from an adjacent edge of the blister pack. Methods of opening this and other inventive blister card packages are also described herein.

Push-through cover foil with a plurality of non-intersecting material weakenings and push-through pack with such a cover foil

A push-through cover foil, including at least one material layer with material weakenings introduced into it in a regular pattern, through which locally a material cohesion of at least one material of the cover foil is broken, where the material weakenings proceed in the thickness direction of the cover foil without completely penetrating through the cover foil, where the material weakenings exhibit a linear course orthogonally to the thickness direction, where the cover foil exhibits a plurality of parallel rows of material weakenings, where each row exhibits a plurality of material weakenings parallel to one another and arranged with a weakening spacing from one another, where the parallel rows of material weakenings are arranged with a row spacing from one another such that neither the material weakenings of the individual rows among themselves nor the material weakenings of adjacent rows intersect one another.

Insert with undercuts

The insert includes a base, the base including at least one depression that defines a cavity, the at least one depression including a floor with walls, the walls including a first pair of opposing walls and a second pair of opposing walls, the first pair of opposing walls each defining an undercut, the undercut including a lower inclined segment and an upper inclined segment that join at an apex, the apex of the undercut for each of the first pair of opposing walls facing each other, and a lid connected to an upper brim of the base, the lid covering the cavity.
