Described is a transformable garment comprising a base portion and at least one extension portion stored in at least one pocket of the base portion when the at least one extension portion is not in use, wherein the at least one extension portion is adapted, when in use, to cover at least an extremity of a wearer of the garment and less than of the body surface of the wearer covered by the base portion, and wherein the at least one extension portion is permanently connected to the base portion along the majority of a connecting edge between the at least one extension portion and the base portion.

Aspects herein are directed to a stowable garment system that allows for quick deployment and donning of an upper-body garment that is stowed within a pouch located on the front of a belt structure configured to encircle the waist of a wearer. The garment comprises at least a front section and a back section, where a portion of the front section is attached to the pouch. The garment further comprises a first tab extending from a bottom margin at a first side of the back section and a second tab extending from the bottom margin at a second opposite side of the back section. When stowed within the pouch, the tabs extend through one or more openings in the pouch. The wearer may exert tension on the tabs to actuate a quick-release mechanism causing the pouch to open, and enabling the garment to be deployed and donned.

The back panel and bag panel can be used in a wearing mode while the garment is worn, then turned inside out into a stowed mode, when the garment is to be stowed, to form a stowage bag within which the garment can be stuffed, with the closure strap movable to a closing configuration to at least partially close an opening of the stowage bag and secure the garment inside the stowage bag. A backpack that has an integral raincoat. The backpack comprises of a bag that has shoulder straps. The bag has a top, a bottom, a front and rear side, the shoulder straps are attached to the rear side. The rear side of the backpack defines a central opening that defines a first compartment that runs from a top rear side of the backpack toward a bottom rear side of the backpack. A retractable roller mechanism has a strap attached to the roller mechanism and the mechanism is attached to the first compartment of the backpack. A raincoat is permanently attached to the strap's end not attached to the roller mechanism. The bag defines at least one front compartment in the front of the bag.

A backpack that has an integral raincoat. The backpack comprises of a bag that has shoulder straps. The bag has a top, a bottom, a front and rear side, the shoulder straps are attached to the rear side. The rear side of the backpack defines a central opening that defines a first compartment that runs from a top rear side of the backpack toward a bottom rear side of the backpack. A retractable roller mechanism has a strap attached to the roller mechanism and the mechanism is attached to the first compartment of the backpack. A raincoat is permanently attached to the strap's end not attached to the roller mechanism. The bag defines at least one front compartment in the front of the bag.

Hiking/trekking garment employing a special suspension harness and bat-wing type sleeves configured to permit the garment to be partially doffed in a gathered transport mode yet is retained on the hiker's back for rapid deployment in case of unexpected change in the weather. The backpack and garment may be donned or doffed independent of the other and without assistance of another person. The harness prevents the garment from riding up and back to not choke the wearer. The garment is specially configured with expandable backpack cover panels. A backpack may be donned or doffed by the wearer alone without assistance and independent of the garment, even while the garment is deployed in the inclement weather use position. Conversely, the garment can be independently put on or taken off without disturbing the backpack and without assistance. The length of the garment may be selected to form a cloak or a jacket.
