A jacket includes an inner harness, a jacket for wearing over the harness, and a load for attachment to the harness through attachment openings in the jacket. The load can be an airbag, a backpack, or other load or load carrying member for attaching to the harness. The jacket has at least one back opening providing access to the inner harness, to facilitate the attachment of the load to the harness. The jacket can be readily removed without disturbing the harness or its load. The removed jacket is effectively carried by the load and/or harness to which the load is secured. The inner harness can be used to carry loads without using the jacket.

A pair of material elements may be secured to opposite sides of the pad component, with one of the material elements being fluid permeable adjacent to at least a portion of the fluid channels.

A belt apparatus is configured to support the trousers worn by a person and to include a number of airbags that are deployable in a falling event to protect the person from bone breakages. The belt apparatus includes a flexible belt element and a fastener that appear and function in much the same way as an ordinary trouser belt, i.e., fitting through belt loops in trousers and being fastenable to itself to support the pair of trousers at the waist of the user. Despite the ordinary appearance of the belt apparatus, it includes one or more airbags internal thereto whose expansion is controlled by a control apparatus. Responsive to a falling event in a particular direction with respect to the user, the control apparatus triggers the rapid expansion of an airbag that is situated on the belt element in the particular direction with respect to the user.

The garment further includes a hip portion and a limb portion wherein the at least one fabric portion extends to the limb portion. A compression adjustment arrangement is coupled to the at least one fabric portion. The compression adjustment arrangement includes a plurality of fluid pockets positioned on the at least one fabric portion at the limb portion. A pump is configured to pump fluid into the plurality of fluid pockets in order to stretch the at least one fabric portion. The pump includes a flexible diaphragm positioned on the hip portion and configured to force fluid into the plurality of fluid pockets upon depression.

APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR PROTECTION OF BODY AREAS UPON IMPACT

The subject disclosure is directed to a new and useful apparatus for protecting a user. The apparatus has an elongated belt dimensioned and configured to be worn about the waist of a user. The apparatus has at least one inflatable/deflatable airbag supported on the belt. The apparatus has an inflate/deflate pump supported on the belt which communicates with the at least one inflatable/deflatable airbag for inflating the at least one inflatable/deflatable airbag upon receiving an activation signal.

AN AIRBAG

An airbag configured to be inflated by a source of gas, the airbag being formed from first and second layers of fabric arranged in superimposition to define an inflatable chamber between the layers for the receipt of inflating gas. Each layer of fabric has a structure (e.g. a weave) comprising at least one yarn, and the two layers are interconnected by at least one tether yarn extending between the layers within the inflatable chamber. The or each tether yarn is implicated in the structure of the first layer at a plurality of first connection regions, and is implicated in the structure of the second layer at a plurality of second connection regions. Each said first connection region is wider in a length-direction of the, or each, tether yarn than each said second connection region, and said second connection regions are offset relative to said first connection regions.

In at least one embodiment, the garment is a short that includes at least one fabric portion and a compression adjustment arrangement. The least one fabric portion is comprised of an elastic material and is configured to provide a degree of compression to a human body part depending on a degree of stretch of the at least one fabric portion. The at least one fabric portion extends from a hip portion to a limb portion of the short. The compression adjustment arrangement is coupled to the at least one fabric portion. The compression adjustment arrangement includes a first lacing guide, a second lacing guide and a dial. Rotation of the dial is configured to move the first lacing guide toward the second lacing guide and increase an amount of compression provided by the elastic material.
