The apparel may have a knee pad to protect each knee, hip pads to protect the hips and a tail bone pad for protecting the tail bone of a trainee. Further a first and second footing for providing security and comfort while training may have a carbon fiber covering for the bottom of each of the footings.

The obtained input data is processed to identify one or more energy controlling criteria for the anatomical protective item. A packing process is employed to generate each energy controlling cell in the single layer. Each energy controlling cell comprises one or more walls which extend from an upper surface of the single layer to a lower surface of the single layer. The packing process is performed at least on the basis of the identified one or more energy controlling criteria. The anatomical protective item comprising the single layer of energy controlling cells is manufactured.

The garment implements an inseam of 6 inches or less and utilizes limited visible shock-absorbing pads. These pads are designed to adhere to a cloth material (ie. spandex, Lyrca, nylon). The pads included on the garment are specifically placed on the inside of the garment in high prone injury areas of the pelvic girdle. The purpose is to relieve possible discomfort and reduce injury while maintaining a smoother appearance. This also provides a level of desired mobility for the active individual. The garment can be worn as a uniform, an integrated part of a uniform, or as an independent garment.

The pad has an outer surface, an inner surface, an upper edge, a lower edge, a first lateral edge and a second lateral edge. A magnetorheological fluid impregnates the foamed material. The magnetorheological fluid is configured to be alternated between a first state wherein the foamed material is bendable and compressible and a second state wherein the magnetorheological fluid forms rigid columns within the foamed material such that the foamed material is less bendable and compressible. An actuating system is mounted on the pad and is in operational communication with magnetorheological fluid. The actuating system actuates the magnetorheological fluid from the first state to the second state when a condition has been met.
