System and method for head and spine immobilization and protection
The present invention relates to a device that stabilizes and/or protects the head and spine from injuries. An immobilization device includes one or more pillars with multiple segments that protect the head and spine of a user. The pillars typically run along the part of the head and spine and pelvis that the device protects. A wire or cable runs through these segments in the pillars. By design, when the pillars of the invented system are not activated and the system is in normal use, the pillars are designed to be as flexible as possible and allow full physiologic motion of the protected body part. Activation of the system confers rigidity to the system and prevents or lessens harmful, non-physiologic motion of the body part intended to be protected.
Bomb Disposal Suit with Back Protector
A bomb disposal suit includes a jacket, trousers, and a back protector connected between the jacket and the trousers. The back protector includes a body of impact resistant material having a plenum with an intake opening to receive forced air and with outlet openings to direct forced air out of the plenum. A fan forces air into the intake opening. The back protector can transmit load vertically from the jacket to the trousers, for example, via a back plate.
Protective Belt Apparatus
A belt apparatus is configured to support the trousers worn by a person and to include a number of airbags that are deployable in a falling event to protect the person from bone breakages. The belt apparatus includes a flexible belt element and a fastener that appear and function in much the same way as an ordinary trouser belt, i.e., fitting through belt loops in trousers and being fastenable to itself to support the pair of trousers at the waist of the user. Despite the ordinary appearance of the belt apparatus, it includes one or more airbags internal thereto whose expansion is controlled by a control apparatus. Responsive to a falling event in a particular direction with respect to the user, the control apparatus triggers the rapid expansion of an airbag that is situated on the belt element in the particular direction with respect to the user.
System and Method for Head and Spine Immobilization and Protection
The present invention relates to a device that stabilizes and/or protects the head and spine from injuries. An immobilization device includes one or more pillars with multiple segments that protect the head and spine of a user. The pillars typically run along the part of the head and spine and pelvis that the device protects. A cable or wire runs through these segments in the pillars. By design, when the pillars of the invented system are not activated and the system is in normal use, the pillars are designed to be as flexible as possible and allow full physiologic motion of the protected body part. Activation of the system confers rigidity to the system and prevents or lessens harmful, non-physiologic motion of the body part intended to be protected. The present invention also encompasses a immobilization device with cables used to guide the deployment of rigid tubes to stabilize and protect the head of the user. The present invention further includes segments with flat guide protrusions for increased stability of the pillars. The immobilization device can further include rigid tubes that extent to receivers when they are activated, and which can also be used to stabilize and protect the head or neck of the user.
DEVICE FOR REDUCING HEAD AND NECK INJURY FOR HELMET WEARER
A motion restrictor device is operable to be worn with a protective helmet to reduce the risk of head or spine injury caused by injurious movement of the helmet. The device includes a helmet-engaging component supported on a harness. The component presents helmet-engagement surfaces positioned on opposite sides of the neck of the user. The component is operable to yieldably bias each of the helmet-engagement surfaces toward the helmet when the device is worn, such that contact with the helmet is maintained as the helmet-engagement surface shifts through a range of motion. The device also includes a brake assembly that restricts shifting of at least one of the helmet-engagement surfaces in response to injurious movement of the helmet.
Ballistic shirt system
A shirt system for supporting body armor may include an inner shirt and an outer shirt. The inner shirt may include a first pocket, the first pocket adapted to receive a first ballistic panel. The outer shirt may include a second pocket, the second pocket adapted to receive a second ballistic panel. The shirt system may include at least one connector adapted to extend from the first pocket to the second pocket. The first pocket may be located on a front side of the inner shirt and the second pocket may be located on a rear side of the outer shirt. The shirt system may include a side ballistic panel.
Watersport hiking support system
A device that provides support for sailors while hiking from a sailing vessel is disclosed. The device includes a garment that is shaped and/or configured to resist the backwards leaning moment of a sailor whilst hiking thereby reducing muscular strain and effort.

A protective pad for protection from impact and a protective garment using the protective pad may be provided. In one implementation, the protective pad may include a foam part and a plate part. The foam part may include a plurality of channels, a plurality of cutout portions, and a plate accommodating section for receiving the plate part. The channels may be formed in a first surface of the foam part and the plate accommodating section may be formed in a second surface opposite to the first surface. The cutout portions of the foam part may include through-holes formed in the foam part from the first surface to the second surface. The plate part may be arranged on the plate accommodating section of the foam part, and the plate part may include a plurality of cutout portions that are substantially aligned with the cutout portions of the foam part.
