Variable modulus body brace and body brace system
A brace for a part of a body includes a first conductive fiber associated with a first polarity, and a second conductive fiber associated with a second polarity different from the first polarity. The second fiber is woven together with the first fiber and insulated from the first fiber. The brace also includes a selectively electrically activated cross-linking agent between the first and second fibers. The agent is constructed to cross-link in a first active mode when the first and second fibers are electrified and is constructed to not cross-link in a second inactive mode when the first and second fibers are not electrified. The brace surrounds a body part, such as a knee or neck. The agent can include an ER fluid and/or EAP. A brace system includes a selectively electrically activated brace for the part of the body.
Mosquito and Safety Garment
A reversible mesh garment to prevent mosquito bites and increase safety through greater visibility of the wearer in dark conditions includes a tubular sleeve formed from mesh fabric, the tubular sleeve having a first end and a second end; first and second adjustable elastic bands housed in a woven fabric casing at each end of the tubular sleeve, wherein the first elastic band spans the perimeter circumference of the first end of the tubular sleeve and the second elastic band spans the perimeter circumference of the second end of the tubular sleeve so as to secure the garment to the wearer's legs from groin to ankle; an LED light source; and an additional layer of a strip of mesh fabric two inches wide is sewn as the top outer layer at the side seams thereby forming a mesh channel housing the LED light source.
Dynamic shin guard
A description is given of a shin guard (1) having a shin element (2) which is based on a hard plastics material or metal and has a concave inner side (16) which is curved transversally to a longitudinal axis (41) of the shin guard and encloses an interior (18) for accommodating a user's shin region. The shin guard is characterized in that at the lower end of the shin element (2), said lower end being directed towards the user's foot, it has a separate sliding element (3), which is based on a hard plastics material or metal and has a concave inner side (17), winch is adapted to the lower region of the shin element (2) and is curved transversally to the longitudinal axis (41) of the shin guard, as well as a convex outer surface (11), and in that the sliding element (3) is mounted such that it can be displaced dynamically essentially along the longitudinal axis (41), within defined limits, counter to a spring force directed towards the foot.
Hydraulic crumb silicone and orthotics comprising same
The invention concerns cushioning compositions comprising (a) at least one of urethane polymer and silicone polymeric putty; and (b) hydraulic silicone crumb; said hydraulic silicone crumb being mixed with component (a). The invention also concerns devices and methods using such compositions. Protective devices have been used to protect the hoofs of animals. Shoes have been used to protect the hoofs from damage while the animal is walking or running.
LIMB SLEEVES FOR BODY ALIGNMENT
A sleeve for wear on a body limb includes a sleeve body and a strap body. The strap body includes straps with fasteners at or near the ends of the straps for attachment to the sleeve body. An arm sleeve includes a thumb opening connected to a tension strap that extends along the length of the sleeve. The arm sleeve is configured to apply a twisting force when the opening is placed on the thumb. An arm and shoulder sleeve includes a lower sleeve, and upper arm cover and straps extending from an elbow band to extend from the upper arm cover for attachment to another garment.
SHIN GUARD WITH THREE DIMENSIONAL IMAGE ELEMENT
A shin guard includes a protective plate having a front face and a rear face. The rear face is contoured to fit around a shin of a wearer of the shin guard. Further, the shin guard includes a three dimensional image element carried on the front face. This image element projects an image outline through a sock worn over the shin guard.
Leg pad
A leg pad (e.g., a hockey leg pad) for protecting a leg of a user, in which the leg pad is designed to enhance protection and freedom of movement (e.g., during skating strides), such as by providing flexibility of the leg pad proximate to a knee and optionally an ankle of the user (e.g., for extension and optional retraction of one or more parts of the leg pad) to better follow natural movements of the user's leg (e.g., bending of the knee and optional flexion of the ankle of the user).
PROTECTIVE CLOTHING FOR CUTTING OPERATIONS
Protective clothing for cutting operations includes an inner layer having the form of an article of clothing and an outer layer having the form of the same article of clothing as the inner layer and is configured to fit over the inner layer. The material of the inner layer is formed of least partly of a cut-resistant material. The inner and outer layers include a fastener which is configured to retain the inner and outer layers together in use.
Flexible light-weight shin and ankle guard providing comprehensive protection against lower leg injury while providing full range of motion
A lower leg guard device is disclosed allowing a full range of ankle motion, while at the same time preventing impact injuries to the lower leg, including the Achilles area, the ankle, and the shin. The lower leg guard device includes two substantially rigid exterior shells each with a cushioned interior liner. The lower leg guard device can be securely attached to the lower leg with one or more attachment straps, and with at least one floating attachment pad that attaches to the wearer's footwear. A floating attachment pad can be positioned over both the inner side and outer side of the ankle, preferably attached to footwear that covers the ankle. The floating attachment pads are attached to the footwear using removable fasteners, located on the exterior surface of the footwear worn by the wearer, so that the guard device can be quickly and easily put on and removed.
SYSTEM FOR RAPID APPLICATION AND ADJUSTMENT OF PROTECTIVE CUSHIONING
A system for rapid application and adjustment of protective cushioning employs a garment component covering a body portion and having a securing element affixed thereto. A pad having a mating securing element affixed thereto is releasably attachable to the securing element to engage the pad to the garment component to protect the body portion.
