10974380 · 2021-04-13 ·

The multi-tool wrench is a single tool that provides multiple tools useful by a craftsman. The multi-tool wrench comprises a first tool half and a second tool half that are removably coupled by a quick disconnect. The halves may be decoupled for use in confined spaces or to simultaneously use tools from each half. The first tool half provides an adjustable wrench and two pivoting hex keys. The adjustable wrench has a reversible lower jaw to convert the wrench into a pipe wrench. The second tool half provides a set of three open end wrenches, a pivoting flat blade screwdriver, and a pivoting cross head screwdriver. The open end wrenches and hex keys may be sized to provide common tools needed in a specific occupation or field. As a non-limiting example, the tools may be common sizes used by a welder.

Locking pliers with movable torque-increasing jaw section

Pliers are provided. Pliers include an upper handle, a lower handle, an upper jaw coupled to the upper handle, and a lower jaw coupled to the lower handle. In general, the upper jaw includes workpiece engagement surface, such a first set of teeth configured to engage a workpiece, and the lower jaw includes a workpiece engagement surface, such as a second set of teeth and a third set of teeth. The lower jaw opposes the upper jaw such that the first set of teeth faces the second set of teeth and the third set of teeth. At least a section of the workpiece engagement surface of the lower jaw is movably coupled to the lower jaw such that it moves relative to the lower as torque is applied to a workpiece, thereby increasing torque applied to the workpiece.

Gripping Hand Tools

Various embodiments of pliers and pipe wrenches are provided. Wire cutters enable a finger pivot hole to enhance the grasp of the wire cutters while rotating the tool and/or stripping wire. Pipe wrenches include different configurations of teeth to improve durability and grip on a workpiece. Pliers are provided with axial teeth to enhance gripping a workpiece in different directions. Pliers are provided with selectable mechanical advantages so that a user may select the mechanical advantage desirable for a particular application.

PIPE WRENCHES WITH HOUSINGS HAVING EXPANDED OPENINGS OR SHIMS

Wrenches commonly known as pipe wrenches which include sidewall surface configurations within a channel extending through a housing component of the wrench are described. Also described are wrenches that include one or more shim components that can be positioned in the housing channel. In addition, methods for reducing failure or fracturing of the wrench due to application of high side or lateral loads are described.

A multi-tool device is disclosed including a separable hinge architecture and an open-ended wrench mechanism. The open-ended wrench mechanism including a frame member with integrated or separate outer jaw, and a sliding and rotating inner jaw, and a spring to bias the jaws closed. Various means to arrest the motion on the stroke are presented. The hinge embodies two parallel rotational joints through positive or negative orifice allowing mechanical fastening of two multi-tool modules to be paired and locked rotationally through common means in selectable positions.

Ergonomic quick release mechanism for hand-held clamping toggle lock tools
10562156 · 2020-02-18 · ·

Embodiments disclosed herein provide an ergonomic quick release mechanism for hand-held clamping toggle lock tools where a fixed jaw and handle have another jaw movably attached. A moving handle assembly comprises a front handle section and a rear handle section held rigid to one another by a movable release trigger mounted on one of the two sections engaging a catch on the other section. The front handle section connects to the movable jaw and a toggle link. Squeezing the moving handle causes the jaws to close and a toggle pivot to go past toggle over center, locking the jaws. To unlock them, the release trigger is disengaged and the rear handle section is then squeezed causing it to rotate and contact an element of the fixed handle assembly at a release fulcrum point, causing the front handle section to rotate outward, releasing the toggle lock.
