PLANETARY ROLLER EXTRUDER WITH A DEGASSING SECTION
A planetary extruder for producing and processing polymers includes a degassing section. The extruder includes a housing and a bushing arranged therein. The bushing has an internal toothing with a pitch diameter and a root circle. An externally toothed central spindle is arranged within the housing. Planetary spindles rotate about the central spindle between the central spindle and the bushing. A heat transfer fluid is guided through fluid channels which extend helically along an outer surface of the bushing and guide the heat transfer fluid axially. A degassing opening is provided to which a negative pressure is applied for degassing. A minimum radial thickness (t) of the bushing between the root circle of the internal toothing on an inside of the bushing and a bottom of the fluid channels on an outside of the bushing is selected based on the pitch diameter (d) of the internal toothing.
Extruder provided with vents
An extruder (1) includes a cylinder (2) and a screw (3), and one or more front vents (8a) are provided on the cylinder (2) upstream of a hopper (5) and downstream of a rear vent (7). The cylinder (2) is provided with, between the hopper (5) and the rear vent (7), a liquid supply device (9) for spraying water into the cylinder (2) to cool an interior thereof and a liquid discharge port (12) that is opened in a lower portion of the cylinder (2).
Liquid crystalline polymer composition
A compact camera module that contains a generally planar base on which is mounted a lens barrel is provided. The base, barrel, or both are molded from a polymer composition that includes a thermotropic liquid crystalline polymer and a plurality of mineral fibers (also known as whisker). The mineral fibers have a median width of from about 1 to about 35 micrometers and constitute from about 5 wt. % to about 60 wt. % of the polymer composition.
Process and device for introducing additive materials in a receptacle at the area of highest pressure
A method and a device for introducing and/or adding non-dry-powder additive materials and/or coating materials with a liquid, solid, semi-solid, or paste-like consistency or in suspended or emulsified form, for example, peroxides, fats, waxes, IV improvers, polymers, or similar materials, to an existing lumpy or particulate material which is moved and mixed, and optionally warmed and reduced to small pieces in a receptacle and/or compressor, said material being in particular polymer particles and/or flakes, wood fibers, paper cuttings, or similar materials. According to the invention, the additive material is introduced below the level of the material and/or material particles already in the receptacle.
Extruder, facility comprising an extruder, and method for producing target polymer products consisting of a plastic-containing material from a solution using such an extruder
An extruder including a housing, a first material inlet for a mixture at least consisting of a solvent and a dissolved medium, a material outlet, a screw, a screw drive, and at least one distillation region between the inlet and the outlet, which allows an outflow of solvent, and a discharge line for the solvent.
Method for producing shaping material
Provided is a method for producing a shaping material that contains a cyclic olefin polymer and has a low content of a volatile impurity. This method for producing a shaping material is a method which includes passing a raw-material resin in a molten state through an extruder to produce a shaping material, and in which the extruder is equipped with a cylinder, a screw housed within the cylinder, a resin introduction port for introducing the raw-material resin into the cylinder, a resin discharge port for discharging the molten resin from the cylinder, a fluid injection port for injecting carbon dioxide or water into the cylinder between the resin introduction port and the resin discharge port, and a fluid discharge port for removing fluid in the cylinder by suction downstream of the fluid injection port and between the resin introduction port and the resin discharge port.
SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR MANUFACTURING BULKED CONTINUOUS FILAMENT FROM COLORED RECYLED PET
A system comprising: (1) a grinding unit configured to receive and grind recycled PET bottles into a group of polymer flakes comprising up to about ten percent colored polymer flakes and balance substantially clear polymer flakes; (2) a washing unit configured to wash the group of polymer flakes; and (3) an extruder configured to extrude material in a plurality of different extrusion streams. The extruder may be further configured to: (1) receive a concentrate-polymer mixture comprising a mixture of the polymer flakes and a color concentrate; (2) melt the concentrate-polymer mixture to produce a polymer melt; (3) reduce a pressure within the extruder; and (4) pass the polymer melt through the extruder so that the polymer melt is divided into the plurality of extrusion streams. The system may then filter the polymer melt through at least one filter and form the polymer melt into bulked continuous carpet filament.
FILAMENT PRODUCTION DEVICE AND METHOD
A device that recycles thermoplastics for producing a filament for fused deposition modelling devices (FDM) and respective operating method is provided. The crushed thermoplastic is introduced into the hopper, pushed by a screw, driven by the motor, inside the barrel, whose axial force is sustained by the axial bearing. The thermoplastic is melted with the assistance of electrical heating resistors and passes through a degassing zone connected to the vacuum pump. The thermoplastic is forced through the die, being cooled on a cooling tray having a water circulation system. The diameter of the filament is controlled by the puller based on the data obtained in the measurement system of the filament diameter. A microcontroller controls the entire process.
