Method of assembling a housing for a scanning assembly
10220574 · 2019-03-05 · ·

A composite housing and a method of assembling a composite housing for a scanning assembly. A body of the housing defines an opening of a first perimeter. A polymethylpentene scanning plate is provided which has lip with a marginally larger perimeter than the first perimeter. During assembly of the composite housing, at least a part of scanning plate is thermally contracted to allow it to be positioned within the opening such that the peripheral side surface of the scanning surface faces the edge of the body. When the scanning plate returns to ambient temperature and expands at least a portion of the side surface of the scanning plate engages the edge of the body.

Structure having joined unitary structures

A method and apparatus are presented. The apparatus comprises a first unitary structure, a second unitary structure, and a number of joints between the first unitary structure and the second unitary structure. The first unitary structure has a plurality of T-shaped cross-sections. The second unitary structure has a plurality of T-shaped cross-sections.

JOINT STRUCTURES
20190022925 · 2019-01-24 ·

Aspects of the present disclosure are directed to a three-dimensional joint and/or formation thereof, such as by 3D-printing the joint. The joint is provided with an interface region having a curable material in a curable state. The joint is positioned with the interface region in contact with a joinable member, and the interface region is cured to form a bond between the joint and the joinable member. Such an approach may, for example, involve forming a mechanical and/or chemical bond with the joint. Further, by utilizing such a joint (e.g., in a 3D-printed form), complex structural components can be formed from a curable material that can be partially cured with structures formed therein, and cured further to create the bond.

SPOOL MADE OF A THERMOPLASTIC MATERIAL FOR THE WINDING OF WINDING MATERIAL, AS WELL AS TO A METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING THE SAME

A spool for winding strand-shaped material having flange discs (22, 24) with an outer flange surface and an inner flange surface (21, 23) as well as a method for manufacturing the spool. The discs have a central through bore (30) that is surrounded by an annular recess (25) with an annular wall (26) positioned in the inner flange surface. A tubular spool core (10) has front surfaces which are connected in a materially bonded manner to the annular wall (26) inside the annular recess (25) of the flange discs (22, 24), wherein at least one channel (32) is provided next to the annular wall (26) inside the annular recess (25) for receiving liquefied connection material. The spool core (10) has approximately the same diameter as the annular wall (26) inside the annular recess (25).

Tooling for fastening metal reinforcement on the leading edge of a turbine engine blade, and a method using such tooling

A tooling for fastening metal reinforcement on the leading edge of a turbine engine blade, the tooling including a blade support for receiving a blade while leaving surfaces of the leading edge of the blade disengaged; and a leading edge reinforcement support on which the blade support is designed to be mounted, and including two lateral wedges between which the metal reinforcement for the leading edge of the blade is positioned, the wedges being suitable for being capable of moving towards each other and apart from each other and each of them being provided with a suction grid for gripping the metal reinforcement, the leading edge reinforcement support further including heater elements for polymerizing an adhesive film applied on the leading edge surfaces of the blade.

DOVETAIL GROOVE BONDING JOINT

A high-strength structural joint is provided. The high-strength structural joint includes a first component of a first material, a second component of a second material. The second component of the second material defines a channel. The high-strength structural joint further includes a third component of a third material. A chemical bond joins the first component of the first material and the third component of the third material in the channel and the channel mechanically retains the third component of the third material.

Apparatus and method for induction sealing of conveyed workpieces
10131455 · 2018-11-20 · ·

Apparatus and method for induction sealing workpieces, in which a series of workpieces are conveyed along a path extending in a conveyance direction, and each workpiece is exposed to a first electromagnetic field generated by a first induction head and to a second electromagnetic field generated by a second induction head, each of the first and second electromagnetic fields inducing eddy currents through the entirety of each workpiece. Respective magnetic axes of the first and second induction heads are non-parallel to each other such that each workpiece is exposed to a plurality of differently oriented electromagnetic fields as the workpiece is conveyed along the path.

Device for connecting two fluid-conducting lines
10113675 · 2018-10-30 · ·

The invention relates to a device (1) for connecting two fluid-channeling lines (10, 20), wherein the device has a through-bore (2) for advancing the fluid and two opposite line mounts (11, 21), which terminate at a predetermined distance (4) from one another within the device. Each of these line mounts (11, 21) is designed such that it is provided with a first part (12, 22), through which the through-bore (2) leads, and a second part (13, 23), which enclosed the first part (12, 22), an annular space (14, 24) therefore being formed between the first part (12, 22) and the second part (13, 23).
