Thermoplastic non-woven textile elements
10174447 · 2019-01-08 · ·

A non-woven textile may be formed from a plurality of thermoplastic polymer filaments. The non-woven textile may have a first region and a second region, with the filaments of the first region being fused to a greater degree than the filaments of the second region. A variety of products, including apparel (e.g., shirts, pants, footwear), may incorporate the non-woven textile. In some of these products, the non-woven textile may be joined with another textile element to form a seam. More particularly, an edge area of the non-woven textile may be heatbonded with an edge area of the other textile element at the seam. In other products, the non-woven textile may be joined with another component, whether a textile or a non-textile.

Rotor blades having thermoplastic components and methods for joining rotor blade components

Rotor blades and methods for joining blade components of rotor blades are provided. A method includes positioning an insert between and in contact with a first blade component and a second blade component. At least one of the first blade component or the second blade component includes a thermoplastic resin. The insert includes a thermoplastic resin and an energy absorptive pigment. The method further includes heating the thermoplastic resin of the at least one of the first blade component or the second blade component and the thermoplastic resin of the insert. The method further includes cooling the thermoplastic resin of the at least one of the first blade component or the second blade component and the thermoplastic resin of the insert. The heating step and the cooling step join the first blade component, the second blade component and the insert together.

A yarn or thread may include a plurality of substantially aligned filaments, with at least ninety-five percent of a material of the filaments being a thermoplastic polymer material. Various woven textiles and knitted textiles may be formed from the yarn or thread. The woven textiles or knitted textiles may be thermal bonded to other elements to form seams. A strand that is at least partially formed from a thermoplastic polymer material may extend through the seam, and the strand may be thermal bonded at the seam. The woven textiles or knitted textiles may be shaped or molded, incorporated into products, and recycled to form other products.

METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING AN ACOUSTIC PANEL BY WELDING

A method for manufacturing an acoustic panel by welding of at least two acoustic components made of thermoplastic material, a thermal gradient being applied on the acoustic components during the welding operation so as to apply a temperature higher than the glass transition or melting temperature of the material on the area to be welded and so as to apply a temperature lower than or equal to the geometric stabilization temperature of the material on the parts furthest from the area to be welded.

METHOD OF CREATING LARGE COMPLEX COMPOSITE PANELS USING CO-CONSOLIDATION OF THERMOPLASTIC MATERIAL SYSTEMS

A method of constructing a large, complex composite panel involves connecting smaller compression molded thermoplastic subpanels, edge to edge using a thermoplastic co-consolidation method. The edges of adjacent subpanels are given complementary surface configurations. The surface configurations are overlapped and heat and pressure are applied to the overlapping surface constructions to co-consolidate the surface constructions in forming a large, composite panel of two or more subpanels.

ULTRASONICALLY WELDABLE POLYMERIC LIDS AND MICROWAVABLE POLYMERIC CONTAINERS

Embodiments herein relate to an ultrasonically weldable polymeric lid for a microwaveable polymeric container. In an embodiment, a lid for microwaveable containers can include a polymeric ring. The polymeric ring can define a central aperture having an inner diameter. The polymeric ring can also include a recessed shelf contacting the inner diameter of the central aperture and an ultrasonic bonding surface disposed to the outside of the recessed shelf. The lid can include a peelable film disposed on the recessed shelf and occluding the central aperture. The peelable film can be removably bonded to the recessed shelf, and can include a tab attached to an edge of the peelable film. In some cases the lid can contain substantially no metal content. Other embodiments are also included herein.

ELECTRONIC CONTROL DEVICE AND METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING ELECTRONIC CONTROL DEVICE

It is provided an electronic control device including a resin molded body, a metal body, and an electronic component, wherein the resin molded body and a main surface of the metal body are bonded, and at least a part of a side surface continuous to the main surface of the metal body is in contact with a side contact portion provided in the resin molded body.
