Medical garments and accessories with welded elasticized parts and methods of manufacture

A garment or accessory is provided having an elasticized portion, said elasticized portion being free of stitches or holes. The elasticized portion comprises a fabric portion of the accessory or garment to be elasticized; and a length of elastic element. The length of elastic element is applied to the fabric by a means selected from the group consisting of direct welding and indirect welding. A method is provided for elasticizing a fabric, said elasticized fabric being free of stitches or holes. The method involves providing a stack of fabric to be elasticized; stretching and positioning a length of elastic element against a first of the fabric in the stack; applying one or more ends of the elastic element to the fabric by a means selected from directly welding and indirectly welding; moving the first fabric to expose the next fabric in the stack to be elasticized; and repeating the steps for the next fabric.

A gown dispenser system has a plurality of gowns, each having a back region, the gowns folded and stacked back region facing up, such that, pulling on the back region of a gown on top of the stack removes that gown from the stack and exposes the back region of the next gown in the stack, an enclosure containing the stack of gowns, the enclosure having an opening exposing the back region of the gown at the top of the stack, enabling a user to grasp the exposed back region and pull the topmost gown from the enclosure, exposing the next gown in the stack. Gowns are drawn from the enclosure one-at-a-time, at need.

A self-adjustable surgical garment includes a front defining a centerline, a back, and two sides connecting the front and the back. The self-adjustable surgical garment also includes a strap having a first end portion, a second end portion opposite the first end portion, and a fastening portion. The strap is attached at the first end portion to the back. Additionally, the fastening portion is removably coupled to a portion of the garment such that the second end portion is in a sterile zone of a wearer. The region corresponding to a sterile zone of the wearer being at least partially defined as a region within ninety degrees in either direction of the centerline.

Surgical gowns can be configured to be worn by a human and to be sterile for use in a sterile surgical environment. Such a sterile surgical gown can include one or more pockets attached to the gown and configured to store surgical instruments. The sterile surgical gown can also include one or more rings attached to the gown and configured to hold surgical instruments. In some embodiments, a patch that is attachable to the gown. The patch can include one or more additional pockets or additional rings.

Surgical personal protection apparatus

A personal protection system for providing a sterile barrier around medical/surgical personnel. The system includes a helmet over which a hood or a toga suspended. A microphone, an amplifier and a speaker are mounted to the helmet. Speech of the individual wearing the personal protection system is picked up by the microphone and amplified speech is broadcast by the speaker. The speaker is outwardly directed so as to broadcast the speech out through the hood or toga covering the helmet.
