An apparatus for executing a method of manufacturing multi-piece open-back isolation garments (10) includes machinery for creating discrete torso web pieces (12) from a continuous torso web (14), combining the discrete torso pieces with a continuous shoulder web having neck openings (37) therein, and cutting the combined torso and shoulder web structure to form the isolation garments. The isolation garments may be used as protection from potentially hazardous or unclean materials in a variety of different environments.

A tubular protective sleeve extends forward from the front panel of the gown body, the tubular protective sleeve being located circumscribing the centrally located orifice. A tubular protective sleeve distal end panel is located at a distal end of the tubular protective sleeve. The tubular sleeve is adapted to receive a stethoscope or any other desired medical instrument. A broadened interior pocket is assembled to an interior surface of the gown body to support an upper, broader portion of the stethoscope or other instrument. A flange can be included with the tubular protective sleeve and/or the broadened interior pocket to aid in attachment to the gown body. The tubular protective sleeve can include a sleeve contraction system to contract the protective sleeve.

An upper body garment has a first access seam spanning a first sleeve of the garment on an underside from a cuff to an arm pit and spanning a body of the garment from the arm pit to a lower hem. The first access seam can be secured by magnets or other fasteners located intermittently along the sleeve and body which are easily opened for access to treatment areas. Furthermore, when the magnets are opened, the first access seam opens completely on one side of a patient body to peel away over IV needles and other connections for removal using a neck opening and a second sleeve. When the garment (or a new garment) is put back on by the patient through the neck and second sleeve, the first sleeve can be re-secured over connections to the body by rejoining opposing magnets.

The incontinence pant device comprises a body component with two leg components. Further, the pant device features a zipper or other closure that can be undone to easily remove the pants in a single piece. Additionally, users can keep the pant device secure around their waist via an elastic band and hook and loop fasteners. Accordingly, if the pant device becomes soiled and needs to be removed from the patient, the caregiver may simply unzip the pant device and remove the pants in a single piece, without risk of an additional mess.

The asymmetrical design of the apparatus allows the side torso fastening system to be positioned along the side of the user's torso forward of the user's axilla, such that the apparatus can be secured around a wearer by a care provider without difficulty, and without causing injury to the wearer, whether the wearer is in a standing, sitting, or lying position.
