Medical gown with adjustable tie straps

A medical gown includes tie straps detachably connected to sleeves of the gown. The straps are detachable by tugging on them once the gown is donned. The tie members are extendable, upon being detached, around the left and right sides to a back of the medical gown for tying together to form a closure around a waist of a wearer. The tie members may be sufficiently long to extend back around for tying in the front of the gown. A section of each of the left and right tie straps may be folded over lengthwise, a portion of the folded section of each tie member being detachably connected to the sleeves. Once the wearer detaches the folded tie members, the tie members may be unfolded and elongated as needed for adjustably sizing the closure securing the medical gown on the wearer.

TRANSFORMABLE CLOTHING

A transformable garment that folds and envelops the wearer with a garment body with panels that use origami folding and shape memory alloy (SMA) elements to assist to transform the garment from an expanded state to a retracted state is provided. Garment designs with transformable panels and sleeves can benefit those who have trouble dressing by allowing the garment to wrap around and fit the wearer without outside help. These types of clothes are expected to be beneficial for people with Cerebral Palsy (CP) and also for populations with other body movement disorders and elderly people.

A gown with an opening to allow passage the user's head allowing the gown to rest on the user's shoulders and an opening in the back with one cord attached to the inside of each side of the opening in the back of the gown and each cord then extends toward the shoulder area where each cord is temporarily attached and the cord further extends toward a hole in the opposite side of the opening in the back where it passes through a hole to the outer portion of the gown.

Each longitudinal panel may be operatively attached to each other. Each panel may have a waistband portion, a hip portion and a leg portion. Each longitudinal panel may terminate with a first and second cooperating and fastening material that may be disposed substantially along the longitudinal hip and leg portions. Each panel may be moveable between a substantially flat open position and a second closed wearable position where each first and second cooperating and fastening materials of each panel may join the second closed wearable position. The cooperating and fastening material may include continuous strips of cooperating materials that may include mating components.

The dry suit is preferably manufactured as a one-part combination suit from a three-layer, waterproof but air-permeable fabric laminate with max. mass per unit area of 220 gr/m.sup.2, and it seamlessly encloses the feet as well. A waterproof zip fastener extends from the crotch to the top of the collar. The sleeves are each fitted with a waterproof zip fastener extending backward from the front edge of the cuff along the forearm. With said waterproof zip fastener, the collar and chest area as well as the sleeves and front sleeves can be opened to a certain extent, providing an effective cooling function, which makes wearing the dry suit in non-critical mission phases significantly more comfortable and less tiring. In addition, said dry suit has a total weight of less than 1.5 kg and is correspondingly easy to wear on the body.

The medical garment includes a flap formed on the front portion and configured to open to expose a portion of a person. The flap includes a partable seam that extends along a top of the body and a portion of a side of the body down to but not beyond a bottom part of the first sleeve where the first sleeve attaches to the body. The flap further includes a fastener to hold the partable seam in a closed position.
