A transparent roof panel assembly for a vehicle roof comprises a panel and a light source. The panel comprises a first transparent layer having a first main surface and a second main surface opposite the first main surface, a second transparent layer arranged adjacent to the first main surface and a light outcoupling pattern arranged between the first main surface of the first transparent layer and the second transparent layer. The pattern is configured for scattering at least a part of the light from the light source such that light exits the first transparent layer through the second main surface. The pattern comprises scattering particles arranged in a transparent carrier. The particles are pigments in a white ink having a concentration of 0.01-1.5% by weight. The pattern may form an image having a contour formed by a full surface printing, a width being similar to dots forming the image.

Obscuration having superior strength and optical quality for a laminated automotive windshield

Laminated automotive glazing including plastic layers and glass having an obscuration area produced by printing on the plastic layers of the laminate rather than printing and firing a black enamel frit onto the glass. This results in an obscuration having superior optical quality, higher strength and a lower probability of breakage as compared to a black enamel frit obscuration.

Economical glass image encapsulation process
09533471 · 2017-01-03 ·

An economical glass image encapsulation process that encapsulates an image between a single plate of glass and a flexible, adhesive sheet of ethylene vinyl acetate. Application of varying thermodynamic parameters to the plate of glass in a vacuum oven increases the glass' absorbency to ink from the image, without relying on the traditional high temperature ovens or tempering machines. The economical glass image encapsulation process eliminates multiple steps, equipment, and components traditionally utilized for image encapsulation such as the need for: high temperature heaters, tempering machines, a second plate of glass, extra adhesive sheets of polymers, multiple superfluous steps for cutting the plate of glass, and shipping costs for whole plates of glass.

Laminated glass interlayer, roll body, and laminated glass manufacturing method

There is provided an interlayer film for laminated glass with which the production efficiency of laminated glass can be enhanced. The interlayer film for laminated glass according to the present invention includes an interlayer film body for lamination glass, and a printed part displayed by printing on a first surface of the interlayer film body for laminated glass, and the printed part is a guide for a bonding position to a lamination glass member, or product information of the interlayer film for laminated glass.
