SAFETY SYSTEM FOR MACHINERY
20190242523 · 2019-08-08 · ·

A safety system for a machine having a danger zone includes an induction coil having one or more turns extending along the periphery of a part of a worker's body as, for example, extending alone the fingers of a glove worn by the worker. A drive circuit applies a time-varying current having an identifiable characteristic such as the frequency of an alternating current. A magnetic field having the characteristic of the time-varying current is induced in an omnidirectional magnetic field sensor mounted adjacent the danger zone. The magnitude of this field is monitored. When the magnitude exceeds a threshold, a warning signal is issued and protective action may be taken, such as stopping or reversing the machine.

A barrier protection device and dispensing system are provided in the form of a medical service or examination glove with sensory indicators that respond to contact with infectious agents or substances. The glove and dispensing system prevent transmission of infectious agents from a healthcare worker to a patient or vice versa.

Wearable personal protection device including adjustable activation
10175032 · 2019-01-08 · ·

A personal protection apparatus includes a wearable covering, a reservoir supported on the wearable covering and containing a sprayable fluid and includes a valve operable to control the flow of fluid from the reservoir. The apparatus further includes a circuit having a force-sensing resistor for actuating the valve. The force-sensing resistor is disposed on a thumb covering and is activated under pressure when the wearer's thumb is positioned between the index finger and middle finger. Pressure on the force-sensing resistor decreased its resistance in the circuit. With the resistance lowered, current is allowed to flow and a power supply powers a servomotor coupled to a cam that opens a valve to allow fluid to be sprayed.

PERMISSION-STATUS CONDITIONING SYSTEM APPARATUS AND METHOD
20180336795 · 2018-11-22 ·

A permission-status conditioning apparatus and method for conditioning a trainee to obtain and wait for permission from a trainer before touching a target object, providing a control unit having a wireless permission-transmitting unit adapted to transmit the granting of permission by the trainer, and a permission unit adapted to be worn by the trainee by incorporation onto an article of clothing, such as a glove, neck strap, band, or badge, having a permission-receiving unit to receive a wireless signal sent by the permission-transmitting unit indicating whether permission is granted by the trainer, and at least one permission indicator, such as a light or sound, indicating to the trainee whether permission is granted by the trainer.

Wearable safety warning and measurement system

An apparatus for protecting a power tool user includes a glove or other garment having at least one sensor that monitors proximity to the power tool. Glove embodiments can include finger and/or thumb proximity sensors, and/or sensors that detect hand position, finger and/or wrist joint angle, vibration, and/or acceleration. Sensing targets can be retroactively installed on the power tool, and can define warning and/or danger zones. Sensing can be via magnetic, electromagnetic, capacitive, eddy current, and/or range finding means. Sizes of warning and/or target areas can be controlled by selecting targets from a plurality of targets of various detection ranges. Protective responses can vary according to different sensed events, and can include audible, visual, and/or tactile alerts, and/or interruption of power to the tool. Embodiments can record proximity and/or status data during a work session for review, training, and certification purposes. A controller can be physically cooperative with the garment.

WEARABLE WIRELESS ELECTRONIC SIGNALING APPARATUS AND METHOD OF USE
20180194274 · 2018-07-12 ·

The present invention relates to a device and a method associated with the device. With respect to the device, it is a wearable garment for the hand, wrist, and/or forearm with an embedded array of lights; one or more micro processing units; one or more touch or pressure activated switches, buttons, or toggles; one or more motion sensing mechanisms; and one or more wireless transmission components which is capable of receiving and transmitting information to a mobile computing device. A wireless transmission device is also disclosed which is attached or embedded in a vehicle connected to the turn signaling system. The mobile computing device such as a smartphone or GPS unit tracks the wearer's location and route and transmits a signal to the wearable garment when a turn approaches causing haptic feedback vibration to the wearer and activation of the embedded lights on the appropriate side. The wearable garment also transmits and receives signals from the wireless transmission device in the vehicle which activates or deactivates the turn signals on the vehicle when the wearable garment's lights and haptic feedback mechanisms are activated or deactivated, and reciprocally the lights and haptic feedback systems on the wearable garment when the turn signal on the vehicle is activated or deactivated. The wearable garment signaling system may be activated by the user's hand/arm motions, by actuation of embedded switches, buttons, or toggles, or by signal from the mobile computing device.

Self-Defense Glove

A self-defense glove. The self-defense glove includes a body having a palm portion, a rear portion, and a plurality of finger openings, each of the finger openings configured to receive a finger therethrough. A pocket configured to receive a spray-deterrent canister such as a pepper spray canister is disposed on the rear portion. A control is disposed on the palm portion. When activated by a user, the control is configured to actuate the pepper spray canister, causing pepper spray to be emitted therefrom. The control is also configured to actuate at least one electrode sending an electrical current therethrough. The user may aim the pepper spray canister in the direction of an attacker and activate the control in order to incapacitate the attacker with the pepper spray. The rear portion further includes a warning label and a light thereon in order to deter would-be assailants from initiating a confrontation.

PROTECTIVE GLOVE WITH INNER GLOVE LIFE INDICATOR

An inner indicator glove formed of multiple layers including a protective layer having a top surface and a bottom surface, the bottom surface facing a hand of a user when wearing the inner indicator glove, and an indicator layer supported by the top surface of the protective layer and positioned to contact protective glove when the inner indicator glove is inserted into the protective glove, wherein the indicator layer is formed of a material that changes color when exposed to a solution penetrating the protective glove.
