Motor vehicle window visibility system and method
09855827 · 2018-01-02 ·

An improved motor vehicle window visibility system that increases visibility and provides low-glare for a windshield and windows of a motor vehicle, improves temperature control, improves visual contrast and reduces glare in bright sunlight, rain, sleet, snow, fog, and night conditions. The system includes a thin polymeric film, yellow-tinted, that sandwiches and seals between layers of clear laminated glass of the motor vehicle.

OPTICAL FILTER COMPRISING A VARIABLE TRANSMITTANCE LAYER

A optical filter comprising a variable transmittance layer having a first spectrum in a dark state, and a second spectrum in a faded state; and a color balancing layer having a third spectrum; each of the first, second and third spectra comprising a visible portion; the first and third spectra combining to provide a dark state spectrum approximating a dark state target color; and the second and third spectra combining to provide a fades state spectrum approximating a faded state target colour. The optical filter may further comprise a light attenuating layer. The optical filter may further comprise part of a laminated glass.

MULTI-PANE WINDOW WITH A LOW EMISSIVITY LAYER AND A PHOTOCHROMIC GLASS

A multi-pane window having a low emissivity layer and a photochromic glass. The window includes at least two panes of glass. An outside pane for interaction with the outdoors and an inside pane spaced apart from the outside pane. The outside pane includes a low emissivity coating. The inside pane includes a photochromic glass. The outside pane transmits solar light wavelengths. The photochromic glass is darkened upon exposure to light transmitted by the outside pane.

A multilayer laminate is provided that is capable of appropriately adjusting haze and transmittance. A multilayer laminate (1) according to one aspect of the present invention is a multilayer laminate wherein the following are at least laminated: a substrate (11), a first light-controlling layer (21) containing a liquid crystal molecule whose oriented state changes according to an applied voltage, and a second light-controlling layer (22) containing a photochromic material.
